Little surprise last night put a smile on my face: OUR 2-YEAR ANNIVERSARY!
Mental health, life & laziness kept me from pouring into it until recently, but we’re finally making progress on this little place for adult nerds who struggle to balance their hobbies & responsibilities.
@InternetH0F
I don’t know if this is true.
But what I do know is, if that was me, I would be absolutely insufferable. Nobody would ever hear the end of it.
“Did you know I can smell Parkinson’s Disease on a person? Shit you not, I successfully diagnosed a guy one time.”
@foureyedmoon
“But what if we could find the most overqualified, underboundaried person possible to overwork and underpay at that position!?”
— middle managers, probably
@DiscussingFilm
Let me get this straight.
First they dumped the dwarves for being offensive?
Then backlash came over the erasure of dwarfism and how bad the movie looked?
And now they’re doin dwarves, but they’re not in the title and they went with CGI rather than hire 7 actors with dwarfism?
@ViewerAnon
This! Not only is this movie not “just fun fan service.” It’s a resonant emotional arc for the titular characters AND Fox universe — an tribute to the superhero movie, where it was when Marvel first hit the big screen and where it is now.
@MCUPerfectGifs
I think Deadpool & Wolverine truly is a cut above.
But I think there definitely was some fatigue. Oversaturation, at least.
Like, when it went from two MCU films per year to 3-4 movies and 2 tv shows, I definitely burned out. I cant keep up with all that.
@IsXboxStillLast
What the hell are half these games?
Like, I’m a two console guy and I think Sony’s story-focused exclusives absolutely eat Xbox’s.
But a bunch of the games on the left are straight irrelevant.
@coldprism
I don’t think her unwillingness to ride comes from disinterest in the dragons themselves, but fear of the death and destruction they are to bring.
It’s the hesitance many have to get behind the wheel again after witnessing or being part of a horrible accident.
@HurrDurr3232
@sinnoh_CEO
You really think my queen, Nurse Joy, would prescribe pharmaceuticals so haphazardly that they spill out of the container!?
That’s it. We’re fighting.
@ruggyscruggy
Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate were absolutely surprise blow ups.
Two games from more niche genres that somehow managed to go ballistic in the mainstream.
@sen7ience
@ruggyscruggy
Yes, but these are games that were normally associated with a large and passionate, but still niche audience.
Nobody expected them to blow up the way they did IN THE MAINSTREAM.
@Sportsnet
You cannot be the Most Valuable Player in the playoffs if you didn’t win the championship…
Because more valuable is any player integral to the winning of the championship.
You know, the reason they’re all there.
@SatiricalMommy
Now this is a mom that deserves a thank you for your service!
Stop turning childhood and adolescence into a full-time job!
Let kids be kids. Let them have a little unsupervised, unstructured, unplanned fun once in a while.
@Jorge_Piesch
@ruggyscruggy
Yes. It had people in the community going crazy. The fact that it pulled in folks that NEVER played (or had any interest in playing) a FromSoft title IS A SURPRISE.
@TeganJosie
Nahhh. You ever go back to games you couldn’t beat as an adult? You’re definitely getting better.
Lack of hours definitely leaves you behind on competitive multiplayer games when there are sweats that do nothing but religiously play that one game, though.
@TheWilderThings
Just graduating college and watching rookie players like Bedard is brutal.
Like this kid is 8 years younger than me, an all-star sensation with millions of dollars in his future and all eyes on his athletic feats.
And I’m over hear struggling to not burn toast.
@OrdinaryGamers
Most interesting thing about the anti-wokes attacking Assassin’s Creed…
Is that for years they’ve missed the fact that AC retcons the Christian Genesis creation story to make Adam and Eve the good guys.
Like I’m stunned we haven’t gotten some Daily Wire think piece about this.
I was an unironic Costco Guys defender for a while there… but this might be the dagger.
I don’t know what it is.
But the way dad manages the shoot behind the scenes makes me uncomfortable, the repeated takes makes the public nuisance cringe way worse.
@NHL
Love the Outlaws.
Hate the Utah Hockey Club with every fiber of my being.
That trend is stupid, lazy, and makes me genuinely (and unreasonably) angry. Where did all the creativity in brand marketing go?
We had the “Washington Football Team” for an entire season. Then the team
@ShitpostRock
Quite the opposite.
“They [the orcs] would be Morgoth’s greatest Sins, abuses of his highest privilege, and would be creatures begotten of Son, and naturally bad. (I nearly wrote ‘iredeemably bad’; but that would be going too far…”
— Tolkien to Peter Hastings (Letter 153)
@Comrade_Yui
No. I’d much rather spend the whole movie figuring out how the fuck to rest this in my lap while it inevitably leaks butter oil all over me where one of the plastic joints comes together.
@jaydenscomics
How joyless do you have to be to get upset about a celebrity doing a harmless marketing stunt and making some impromptu memories for their fans?
@CerberusXt
Even better, Tolkien in Letter 153 describes the orcs as “naturally bad” but not “irredeemably bad,” because Eru is good and can work anything that comes to pass in his creation for his good purposes.
@ShitpostRock
Quite the opposite.

@ChrisLikesDinos
Listen. I liked Rings of Power.
But people didn’t dislike it for lack of trying. They disliked how loosely adapted it was, among other things.
And it’s time we stopped writing off distaste for a piece of media as not “getting it” or “giving it a chance.”
@ANTONIOEESPARZA
@BR_OpenIce
Patrick Kane came back from a HIP RESURFACING at 35 and put up the same numbers he did when the Hawks won the Cup in 2013.
@DCFilmNews
If they EVER cancel Matt Reeves’ Batman series to avoid competition for James Gunn’s lackluster looking DCU…
I will genuinely lose my mind.
@DMC_Ryan
Anyone going below an A is coping.
And that’s not Xbox fanboying or console warring. Two console guy, here.
The games just look fantastic. Period.
@JamieMoranUK
Genuinely happy to see people enjoying this game… but I had a horrible experience with it.
Loved the aesthetic. Hated the writing and story. Hated the open world and a lot of the combat encounters. Dealt with tons of bugged missions and achievements.
I want to say we’re so back, but…
Out the gate, I’m not loving Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection.
It’s awkward, servers are a mess, games end FAST, and I’m not seeing any achievements.
Heard this may be cause it’s not technically full release yet. Hope that’s true.
@PlasmidSouls
I don’t care if people get the game or don’t in situations like this.
But I just never understand the hills people choose to die on.
Like, an egregious number of companies these folks buy product off of do shit ten times as bad and nobody says a word.
@dimas_favorite
Isn’t that the darndest thing?
Ever since graduating college and starting to work in an office environment, I can’t even manage to get a job as a waiter or bartender when I need work.
Despite all this big talk from business owners about how “nobody wants to work.”
@OhNoItsAlexx
This. I don’t have a bone to pick with Alanah Pearce.
I’m not even like outraged over it all.
It’s just deisrespectful to lump conventional adult responsibilities in with genuine physical and mental disabilities, temporary or permanent, no matter who is doing it.
@ZenithCG
@DiscussingFilm
Could not agree more.
And while you’re at it, cancel the rest of these dogwater live action remakes.
Let people enjoy the classics as they like, but leave them where they are, and create new things.
@Xbox
Half-eleven sorcerer noble with wild magic.
And I would’ve landed a hot date with my goth girlfriend Shadowheart if it weren’t for the meddling pals I played with!
I was robbed. ROBBED, I SAY!
@milquepoast
“Ok, so if we could maybe just take the temperature down a notch there. What I think I’m hearing you say is…”
🙄😤🤯🤬
God, I’m almost convinced they just do it to make you angrier, so you’ll blow up and they can “win the argument” by default disqualification.
Matthew Tkachuk: I can’t believe it.
Emily Kaplan: What can’t you believe the most?
Like, I’m sorry… but is there anything more worthless than sideline sports reporters?
From the stupid questions to the same athlete answers repeated ad nauseum, why are we still doing this?
@cultinsecurity
@thatstarwarsgrl
It’s almost like Tolkien plays with the idea that evil is often seductive and subtle, rather than gross and transparent.
@OrwellNGoode
If this had one of those soda cups with the teal and purple shapes on it and maybe some of that old neon mall carpet (you know the one), this would perfectly summarize the folks behind our account.
Excuse me game devs, but if you make a quest where I have to follow an NPC at a speed that is Faster than my walking speed but Slower than my running speed you should be made to go to jail please. Thank you.
It just sort of totally undercuts everything I said last week about it just being harmlessly cringey father-son bonding.
Like it’s clear dad wants a perfect take.
He’s definitely turning it into work for his kid to keep the 15 minutes going, rather than just have fun.
@nyzaf
@DCFilmNews
@empiremagazine
I’m talking about the general trend of deconstructing classic IP, keeping one or two pieces, and wearing the IP like a skin for whatever story you wanted to tell.
@OrdinaryGamers
I don’t remember all the details.
But essentially, the precursor race that made the artifacts you hunt for in Assassin’s Creed made humanity and enslaved them, but two hybrids named Adam and Eve steal the Apple of Eden and rebel to give humanity the gift of free will.
@AllFatherMedia
Shogun definitely deserves a pass.
At least as far as I’ve read, it’s VERY tightly accurate to the story of European samurai William Adams, who was named samurai, but served as an advisor and never saw combat.
What I don’t understand, however, is how Nioh gets a pass from these
Absolutely fucking tragic.
It appears Paul from
@MittenSquad
has passed away after a public battle with substance use and pancreatitis.
His Bethesda challenge runs were some of the wildest, funniest content around — and they never failed to leave me smiling.
Forks Up.
Only thing stranger than the narrative that “people who play on ____ system don’t buy games.”
Is the way Playstation stans act like it’s some noble act to perpetually suckle at mommy Sony’s teat, pre-ordering every $70 exclusive they can.
Just finished Rings of Power S2E1!
Dialogue and performances varied greatly moment to moment, and some events / transitions felt abrupt.
But it was largely beautiful and is again nailing Tolkien’s strongest themes: Hope, goodness, and the corrupting influence of power.
