This really applies to a lot of Disney's recent attractions. Please, STOP destroying beloved attractions to build new ones. Especially at WDW where there is no excuse. With DL I can at least kinda understand, but WDW? No. They should be expanding, not destroying.

Contrast this scene, the detail, the artistry, visual richness, and how it was executed with what Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is. I'm not against MMRR, but I don't think they should have destroyed this so we could have that. Seeing this reminded me how great it was.

I don't understand the claim that "Splash never fit Frontierland anyway." It was based on folktales popularized in the 1800s, the facade was designed to fit next to BTM, it had old west style wanted posters of the villains, a traditional country soundtrack, how did it not fit?

Don't say Splash Mountain fans are "overreacting" about their favourite ride closing if you: - Get "offended" by a ride about cartoon animals. - Childishly block anyone who associates themselves with it in the slightest. - Liked the ride until it became "racist" to do so.

If Brer Rabbit is a “runaway slave” and Brer Fox is a “slave owner”, how could a return to the Briar Patch represent a “return to plantation”? Brer Rabbit is rewarded with relaxation, while Brer Fox is punished. This blatant contradiction makes this “interpretation” inaccurate.

@Savethedmagic The sad part is that this could work as it's own attraction in a more fitting land, but it will forever be stained by the fact that it's built from the corpse of one of the most beloved rides ever. The sole reasoning for it's existence is why I despise it so much.

I am so curious to wear my full Splash gear to the parks just to see what happens, because this is getting WAY to frequent to be a coincidence. These CMs are absolutely being told to do this.

The single act of painting over the 'Baskett McDaniels' tribute is 1000× more racist and offensive than anything depicted in both Song of the South and Splash Mountain combined.

To everyone who says TBA was planned "years ago", please explain to me why a brand new range of Splash merchandise hit store shelves not too long before the announcement. Because if that was the case, this merch would have been cancelled, or just not even made at all.

It's not just TBA. Companies have been gaslighting fans into thinking they're the problem for a while. It's a dangerous trend. "Our (insert thing) isn't bad, you're just (insert ist/phobic)." Pretty soon, actual bigotry won't be taken seriously anymore. Boy who cried wolf.

I have absolutely no idea why Disney doesn't just build this really nice archive/museum building with a TON of old animatronics and props on display for public viewing. Like, make THAT an attraction. People would totally pay to see something like that. Stop wasting assets, ffs.

I haven't even been to the parks since 2019, but summer without Splash just feels incredibly strange. Splash was always the first thing that came to mind when hearing the words 'Summer' and 'Magic Kingdom/Disneyland' in the same sentence. Feels wrooong man...

Most Splash fans I've interacted with are teens or young adults below 25. The stigma that we're all 50+ year old boomers is hilarious.

gotta say. does shock me how the ride with “no relevancy with modern audiences” ended up with a community that seems to have a LOT of zoomers who care abt it. ik not everyone, but shocked by how many non save-splash splash fans are gen z, at least from my interactions. kinda cool

Looking forward to seeing all the shills try to justify having sentient race cars zipping around the American frontier. This will be an even bigger shit show than TBA. At least TBA had some connection, but this? There is no way they can justify this. This is peak brainrot.

It's also worth noting that quiet spaces like Tom Sawyer are a godsend for guests with sensory issues, (and people who just hate crowds.) We NEED those kinds of spaces in theme parks. They're more important than you think.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. These people rambled on and on for years about how excited they were for TBA to replace Splash and now it's here, they don't seem to give a shit about it. Let's face it. It was never about Tiana. It was about winning.

This is getting so tired. Splash is gone even though it shouldn’t be. If you are that bothered by us saying that, mute us and go ride the broken bayou you don’t really seem to care about one way or another.

Because they like to act as if Tiana is 'reclaiming history' even though there's no such thing. What they really mean is rewriting, or as they like to think of it, "correcting" history. Aka: Sugarcoating the past. The exact same thing they accuse Splash Mountain of.

Black stories are black stories. I don't care how many white people wrote books or made movies about them. They are STILL black stories. Just like how Mulan isn't any less of an Asian story because Disney made a movie about it. These adaptations do not change their roots.

And then we pointed out that the story of Brer Rabbit and the Briar Patch predate Joel Chandler Harris with publications proving it. The new excuse? “Well if it has nothing to do with the era of slavery, then it’s not true black culture 🤓”. Every. Excuse. Imaginable.

@Park_Journey Why are you guys allowed to claim it will be the "best attraction" before it's even open, but we're not allowed to say anything negative about it because it's "not finished yet"?

Live action remakes go against the entire philosophy that started WDAS in the first place. To prove that cartoons were a valid medium for telling compelling stories. The way Disney tries to push these remakes as the "newer and better" versions is gross to me.

The goal of 1937's SNOW WHITE was to prove that moving drawings could captivate audiences as powerfully as live actors, and they succeeded. No disrespect to the crew of this new version, but cartoons don't need to be validated by live-action remakes. They're perfect as they are.

"It's just a theme park, it doesn't matter" is doomer mentality. No. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't. There's plenty of worse things going on in the world right now than an artificial river being paved over. We get it. But that doesn't mean we're not allowed to care.

What's the point in learning to read, if there's nothing worth reading? Or studying engineering if you can't design something inspiring. Or curing the sick if they have nothing to enjoy? The ARTS make life worth living. & The THEME PARK is the highest expression of it.

(1/2) After the recent discourse, I do wonder how long it will be before Disney just straight up starts banning Splash merch at the gates under 'hateful imagery' or something like that. I'm not gonna lie and say it hasn't crossed my mind, because it has.

@BrerOswald 100%. The park feels empty without it. It's hard to explain, but it just gave off this contagious vibe of positivity. Like, the essence of Disney in it's purest form. It was impossible to ride it without smiling. I probably sound high lol, but that's the best I can explain it.

Fun fact about me: One of the first things I ever wanted to do when I grew up was be a Disney character performer. I've since realized it's probably not ideal for someone with sensory issues, but it's silly little moments like these that remind me what a magical job it is. ❤️

Yeesh... All of this just feels so wrong to look at. I just can't see this in any other way than off-brand Splash Mountain. Everything about it just feels like a cheap imitation rather than the brand new ride they keep trying to push it as.

This story is one that I really wish made it into either SotS or Splash, purely because of how absurdly funny it is. In fact, one of SotS's biggest weaknesses imo is just how many stories weren't used! So much missed potential.
