We are saved as much for this life as for the next. We should actively work with God to improve the lives of others because our salvation calls for us to follow God in the care of those who are vulnerable and in need of compassion. Salvation is not just a ticket to Heaven
@_DeanAnthony
I have a student in my youth group with OCD that absolutely loves God and is incredibly compassionate. OCD is legit and very debilitating. This stance is very uneducated and harmful as it prevents people from seeking the care they need.
Just found out that the church I previously served at recently hired a pastor who was fired back then from a neighboring church about 5 miles away because he hired and slept with a prostitute. I didn't meet their standard because we homeschool, but prostitution is ok, I guess 🤨
One of the things that bugs me the most about the SBC women pastors thing is saying it's ok to be a youth/children's director doing all of the pastoral duties in those roles. This holds youth and children less than human. It's ok because the kids/youth don't count as people
@freedomsbride
Wait, am I reading this correctly? The SBC billed you? They filed for crisis intervention 'on your behalf' and then turned around and charged you for it? The details of your case aside, I don't understand why they'd bill you for that
I have a major problem with the SBC going out of their way to justify how Trump was targeted and is innocent while simultaneously saying that sex abuse victims are lying and denying them an opportunity for justice.
@emilykmay
How would you even prove the drunkenness? I mean, are you having to keep receipts that everyone just throws away when they buy stuff? Setting up for abuse issues that way. He sees the receipts and asks why, what do you say? I'm trying to divorce you in 5 years?
Ya'll, I just had an appointment with the hearing specialist. He let me try on some hearing aids to show the difference. My tinnitus went away instantly. I've had that high pitched ring for 40 years and that was the first time I've never not heard it. I almost cried right there.
I don't understand why the complementarian v egalitarian has become a mandatory non-compromise, when clearly there's at least room for debate. This seems very much like a secondary or even tertiary issue. and not an issue for the SBC to place such a firm and fast line
@sheilagregoire
@_jaystringer
His advice is despicable. First thing I said to my wife when we walked across the threshold was 'Nothing happens unless you want it to. I'm perfectly fine just watching TV, or anything else, as long as it's together.'
@thescottbarber
Yep, I always had a picture of a long line of people waiting to stand before God, with the books of our deeds before him, and a huge jumbotron screen above for everyone in line to watch 😅🤦♂️
@albertmohler
@WNGdotorg
"Say what you will about Donald Trump and his sex scandals, he doesn’t confuse male and female."
I'd expect nothing different from the President of a seminary that has been fighting against abuse victims with Amicus Briefs, and is being sued for covering up abuse. Shameful.
@justicejewel17
@JohnRHuffman
In Oklahoma, where the incidents occurred, rape is defined as any nonconsensual sexual intercourse. What she described is absolutely 100% rape.
This will be the year that the SBC declares itself against sex abuse victims, against women, and for Christian Nationalism. It has become as far removed from the Christianity I cherish as I can possibly fathom.
@masonmennenga
If their faith is more about getting away from something bad, whether you believe hell is real or not, than it is about going to the goodness of God then it could be argued that their faith isn't fully in God.
@howertonjosh
@tx_pilgrim
A sexist joke is still sexist. If you had made a racist joke it would still be blasted for being racist even though it was a joke. It's absolutely no different with sexism. It's still bad, even as a joke.
@BaptistLeaders
@WillyRice
Yes, because seminary executives being charged by the FBI for criminal sex abuse cover ups clearly indicates that survivors are the ones with an agenda
At this point, if a pastor says the SBC doesn't have a sex abuse crisis they are marking themselves as not safe for victims. They're more concerned with PR than victims and care. They will dismiss any claim, or even cover it up, because they want to protect the institution.
@dieworkwear
@lawrencelkso
It's because those men don't want anything to do with a confident woman who values herself. They want a submissive woman they can control. A woman who sees her value doesn't kowtow to men and they don't know what to do with that
@dmichaelclary
@jdgreear
1. the idea that a person who has never experienced a situation is equipped to tell those who have lived their entire lives in it how they should respond to that situation is a bit nonsensical. It also contradicts the early church response to almost this exact situation in Acts.
How does a pastor get arrested on a Thursday for covering up sex abuse and still preach that Sunday? Like, that seems like a point when any sane pastor, or one with a semblance of a moral code, would realize they've made a mistake and need to step away.
Under DOJ policy, another person cannot be named in an indictment unless they too have been criminally charged.
The docket reflects that Queen was arrested last Thursday.
The website of the church where Queen is senior pastor shows that he preached this past Sunday.
@hcarolineking
No, that's not the exception. It's actually very normal. Looking at actual studies homeschoolers outperform public school. I'm sorry if it wasn't your experience, but that doesn't make yours normal
@arrtnem
@OX_sep
@InternetH0F
It was entirely because of slavery. If Texas kept it the rest of the state had to be declared slave free. They gave up that strip so the slave owners could keep their slaves. It became No Man's Land for a while, and served as a hideout for Outlaws until Oklahoma became a state
@JonnyRoot_
This is so dishonest. He wasn't denied his diploma. That literally can't happen. He was just denied the opportunity to walk, which they have the right to do when people break the stated protocols for the ceremony.
Incredibly honored to preach yesterday at
@LibertyU
. Students were fantastic, friendly, and excited to follow Christ. The convocation experience was epic. My time on the campus was really encouraging.
@TradReform
@la_rue25
This screams of selfishness and hatred. This is the picture of an abusive relationship, and is far from the picture of true love that Christ has for his church exemplified by his sacrifice that is to model what a marriage should be

@lporiginalg
Yeah, um, Ludacris wore it to symbolize the oppression that black people have endured in the south. He didn't have quite the message with it that you want from him...
@JennMGreenberg
In the parable of the debtor Jesus teaches us what forgiveness is. It is letting go of a debt owed to you. In the parable it was money. IRL, it is anything from revenge to resentment to anger, or even shame when forgiving yourself. It is NOT requiring a continued relationship
@JayMallow3
Our societal views on gender roles are so weird, and in many ways cause a lot of damage. Like, many of both genders clearly don't fit in those stereotypes, but we try to force it anyway and it just creates more confusion than anything else
@colinsmo
@RickWarren
@Saddleback
If the sbc stance is true, it's divisive. If saddleback is true, it's corrective. I read Scripture as supporting saddleback on this
My hometown just got hit hard by a mile and a half wide tornado. My family moved away so I haven't been there in many years, but lots of memories and friends. Prayers are up for you all there in Bartlesville
At a previous church, I was taking youth to camp and found out they hadn't done a BG check on me. I was the pastor. I told them to do one and they asked me to just lie about it and say they did (didn't have to provide proof, but say I had done it). I refused of course.
Barely 1/2 of Southern Baptist churches say they require staff & volunteers who work with kids to have background checks (& remember: this is self-reporting, so the actual # who do this is probably much lower)
I've got several youth that have been abandoned by their mother's. It's the hardest day of the year for them. Always have one leaving church in tears. I get honoring mother's, but wish it wasn't quite the central focus many churches make it to be.
On the whole wedding thing, my wife was pregnant when we got married, and almost no one from my family attended. I was very hurt, and my relationship with the family has never been the same since. The message you send by boycotting is not beneficial at all
@braddery
@KyleYoakum
@watchkeep
Yes, but this wasn't the actions of just any 'one or two or five or ten people' within the church. It was your founding pastor and, at the time, current lead pastor. Seems very dismissive to the victims to be applauding at that time.
Listening to Jack Graham's message tonight. He's talking about pastors giving up, blaming it on their lack of character. Honestly, for me, the concern is the SBC's lack of character is leading me to give up. If you want pastors to serve, be a denomination worth serving in.
I've yet to see 1 explanation for the women pastors discussion in regard to all of the women church planting missionaries within the SBC? Are we going to take a large portion of our missionaries off the mission field? Or does this issue only apply to the USA?
Law Amendment fails by 369 votes. Small win for now. The next two future locations will be in Dallas and in Florida, both in the more conservative south, allowing more conservative ministers to come. I would not be surprised to see this be addressed again over that time frame.
So, in the same Annual Meeting that the Sex Abuse Task Force is begging for any semblance of support we're going to feature an adjudicated sex offender and felon. How the hell has the SBC turned into this mess?
Oh, lovely. During SBC24, a lunch will feature President Trump (attending virtually) in a discussion on how to “grow our coalition.”
Southern Baptists, political operatives think you are easy marks for their nationalistic agenda. Will you prove them wrong?
@HeathLambert
The SBC will continue to spiral until it finally decides to stop trying to pretend they don't have an abuse problem and address it with grace and compassion. The ones you say hate the SBC actually love it enough to call for everyone else to recognize more needs to be done
@TheMuppetPastor
The misdemeanor became a felony based on "an intent to commit another crime or to aid or conceal the commission thereof.” Doing it to pay prostitutes with campaign money became the other crime. This is the definition of a felony.
@braddery
@KyleYoakum

What would have satisfied people was openly admitting what Robert did specifically and focusing on the trauma and harm inflicted upon his victims, and just focusing on that. Instead, gateway church made the victims trauma about gateway instead of the victims.
@Brent_Hobbs
@hoopersnook
The fact that after years we still don't have the sex abuse pastors website populated did it for me. It really doesn't take long to do a spreadsheet. Literally, the only reason it wouldn't be up now is protection of the pocketbook over victims
Bart Barber pulling out his wallet to support the abuse reform days after a case was dismissed in which he took action against an abuse victim by filing the Amicus Brief does seem a bit artificial and I can only imagine the emotions Samantha Killary would have seeing that
@Eric_Conn
While we were yet sinners Christ died for us. If he hates sinners then he never would've come to live among us in the first place, much less die for the sinner. Very inconsistent theology
Had a conversation with someone about Mohler's statement on Pressler and they pointed out that it's understandable in that situation to struggle to see a close friend doing something like that. I understand, and agree, but here's the problem with what Mohler actually said: 1/
@ChristaBrown777
@SWBTS
I was at SWBTS when they moved into campus. I was a 'blue shirt' (SWBTS work crew) and was involved in fixing the place up for them to move in. We even had to put wall paper inside the dresser in their closet 'in case someone looked in it'.
@JustinPetersMin
@gavinortlund
That's the most false piety I've seen in a while. Your worldview is shaped by every experience you've ever had. That's what makes it a world view
@albertmohler
Dude, just show a semblance of morality for once! He's guilty. He's always been guilty. Stop supporting him. Please, for the love of all that is right and true. Stop.
@bartbarber
I hear you, and appreciate this at least. The truth is, however, that victims all throughout the SBC are literally begging the SBC to at least say something, and no one is. This statement, saying you're not going to make a statement, is about the most anyone has had
@SlowToWrite
MacArthur isn't Scripture. PTSD and OCD are both responses to trauma. It results when a person experiences more trauma than they are mentally capable of dealing with. It isn't a lack of faith. It is being overwhelmed and flooded with with trauma to an injurious point. /
@liamsadams
@SBCExecComm
@BaptistPress
So, we have to form a committee to review with no time frame to decide if we should not actively oppose victims of abuse, but it takes 3 minutes to disfellowship churches for having women on staff? The moral compass of the SBC is not just broken, it has been shattered
@steelNwood
@_DeanAnthony
I'd change that to say that most who are medicated likely need counseling as well as the medication. Treating the symptoms allows you to better get at the source of the problem as you aren't so intensely focused on the symptom.
@macbrunson
Well, seeing as though they're taking legal actions to block abuse victims I think there is evidence they would potentially cover up sin in other areas as well
@pastordmack
I can't wrap my head around how one of the primary concerns in Scripture is unity within the Body of Christ, yet we continually look for reasons to divide
@PinnacleJoe
@_nomadic_soul
Because 1 out of every 5 women have had it happen to them. It isn't some imaginary thing that isn't likely. Every single one of us know multiple people that have experienced it, they just don't always tell you about it.
When Mohler dismissed the accusations, which is what he did, excepting they had a settlement, it sent a clear message to every other victim that they don't have a person to go to when they need help. //
@truthmanifesto
@wartwatch
Typically, in this type of situation they will often cut the livestream while addressing situations like this. He's saying, if they do so then please record anyway
I wish the SBC leadership cared enough about the SBC that they would address the issues within the SBC. Ignoring the problems is, first and foremost, hating the victims, but it also feels like hating the SBC because it gives the appearance they don't care enough to try to fix it
SBC enters into a time of worship now to ensure it's properly intuned with the Spirit of God as it votes to subjugate women as second-class citizens in the kingdom of God.
What a way to phrase the SBC sex abuse crisis response. Essentially,
'We're indifferent, but don't want to deal with the PR nightmare of being indifferent.' Even the good responses to abuse has nothing to do with survivors
Southern Baptist Convention president says Baptists have learned from the mishandling of sex abuse cases in Arkansas: “Honestly, whether you have a sympathetic heart to survivors of abuse or not, nobody wants to be Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock.”
@LockwoodFrank
Can't have trust restored if you're trying to hide everything. God is a God of light, bringing all sin to plain view. His people need to stop trying to hide their sin in darkness.
@pastordmack
It means that morality means nothing and we blatantly ignore the bf&m so that we can do whatever the heck we want now apparently. Money, power, and influence are the only things that matter now
@KellyScaletta
@Acyn
Yeah, no problem. Given his history with racist housing violations I don't see him having anything to do with it unless he had no other option (which he didn't by the time his vote came along)
@ErinMHarding
A realtor, you can have that added into the contract that they have to clean and have receipts provided at closing proving it's done before signing. But not everyone trusts the sellers to clean to their standards so it isn't required
