I would say we had many non car dependent cities at one time but that NY maintained its independence from automobiles the most though even NY made some terrible choices. Most medium & large US cities at one point had very good public transit & were walkable too.

Wow I wish we had folks like this working in DC Government.
This TikTok is at 1.7million views and a lot of angry, hateful comments. “I was only 2 minutes” “I was just picking up a food order” “I’m not parked” it’s NO STOPPING for a reason, to keep cyclist safe. The sign doesn’t indicate “no stopping except for 2 minutes” $150 x2

A long time ago Georgetown was actually a little funky with art house theaters and a neighborhood serving grocery store & a couple of coffee shops and even some cheap cool places to eat but by about 2000 had evolved into a frat house vibe w/ lots of high end chain stores.

How did a 2nd DUI arrest in 3 years not net significant jail time - any competent judge knows DC barely does any DUI enforcement- if you were caught twice by MPD you have a serious problem and need some time in jail to think about it.
Walker was similarly charged with driving under the influence in 2018, when she was again found sleeping in her car. She had an open bottle of vodka in the car with her.

Todays car on a DC sidewalk injured 2 peds including a child& revealed a selfish driver, probably unnecessarily, concerned only about themselves:
In Ring camera video, a distressed person can be seen at the scene wailing. "Oh my God... I'm going to jail," they scream at 1 point.
The girl and her father were walking down the street, on their way to the pool, when the driver of a Ford went off the road, striking the man and pinning the little girl, authorities and neighbors said.

FWIW driver rolled thru the stop sign at 17 and Blagden. This intersection is super problematic, drivers never properly stop. They also speed down Blagden (and Colorado). In fact, it didn't take long for the inpatient drivers to start honking at the inconvenience of the accident

about why a car that was eligible for towing only got a relocation tow and was not impounded - you already had this dangerous car on a tow truck! C'mon - be smarter & do better.

It is just absolute anarchy on our streets. Stolen cars, car jackings, people overdosing while driving, shootouts & then the endless reckless driving committed continously by most drivers.MPD meanwhile despite most officers per capita has no traffic enforcement division & is MIA.

Of course that is not true - the entirety of DC is reachable via Metrobus & all DCPS students are eligible for free smart trip cards. And there are even WMATA routes that only exist to serve DC public schools including one that serves your neighborhood.

Something seemed odd about this license plate. The very clean letter and numbers, yet oddly faded DC logo.

Yesterdays car on a DC sidewalk is on a 25 MPH street with multiple speed humps adjacent to a park with a playground.
Collision at 200 blk. Valley Ave. SE. Three adult patients Priority 1. One patient transported by helicopter. Two patients by ambulance. No pedestrians struck.

From what I've always understood it is not against the law to remove an illegally placed sign & in DC if you didnt get a public space permit the only place you can legally locate a campaign sign in the public ROW is on a pole which based on the metal stanchions was not the case.

We ignore these driving violations then suddenly the drivers can't be ignored anymore & we are left with victims & costs & missed opportunities.
4 males in a black Nissan Altima with VA temp tags, one armed with a rifle & 3 armed w/ handguns, are going on a robbery spree in DC. The first robbery occurred in the 800 block of Maine Ave SW at the Wharf. The 2nd occurred in the 1300 block of 18th St NW near Dupont Circle.
