6000 feet, total nonsense. That’s close to a mile, the wings would’ve come off. The altitude excursions was closer to 300’ with high rates of change, as can be seen here. 6000 feet, I really wish people would think before posting such crap.

I flew on a NATO exercise in Finland almost 20 years ago. Other than full membership it’s nothing new. The Russians were grumpy about them as much as they are now. You cannot deny sovereign nations their security.

"Air pockets" do not exist, it hit a patch of severe turbulence. The data indicates an altitude variation of 275 feet, which is more than enough to cause injury. A 6000 foot change would rip the wings off.

Hill really should have been jailed, he was performing in an aircraft that he knew very well, it was the hottest day of summer, performance was therefore reduced. He was below his “gate” height for the manoeuvre, continued it anyway and killed 11 people. Awful.

I know many pilots of our generation in the same position. All saying the same thing. One positive for me is that having a Labour government has made it clear, I’ll be taking my pension at 55 despite the small hit I’ll take. I just don’t trust them with it.
