2/ partisan games with Republicans during the Obama days. The Israeli Left has been warning against this since basically the time he gained power so it wasn't unexpected. People want to see a government that is trying to solve the situation with the Palestinians and get peace.

Let's be real. The reason people have less kids is that they don't want them as much these days, and that tendency grows with education. They prefer to do other stuff. Even in Scandinavian countries where the government literally pays you to have kids, people aren't having them.

And to be fair, he's an incredibly effective politician. During his time (until this point...) Israel enjoyed strong economic growth, relatively low terrorism, and peace with some Arab countries. But it was all based on ignoring a problem that can't be ignored. He's done now.

Big Tech generates more value than pretty much any business in the history of the world. Which other business has literally billions of customers with near zero margin cost? It allows them to pay better to mid/senior employees than pretty much anything else.

It's this. People are less into ornamentation because their physical and digital lives have become busier. It's not a coincidence that mid century modern, Minimalist, Japanese, Scandinavian design styles dominate. Also trends cycle faster - these (beautiful) fish would get old.

Agreed. It disrupts all the wrong people. The government will start cracking down on it in a big way. We have the ability to build something that will probe the mysteries of the universe but we won't do it because it threatens lawyers, doctors and software engineers.

OpenAI is not a product company and it shows. First the bad name (ChatGPT) and second they don't explain the gulf between 3.5 and 4.0 in ways that normal people understand. It's the difference between talking to a well-meaning middle schooler and someone with an advanced degree.

I think Israel can easily be forced to accept let everyone back into Gaza, but the reality is that a ton of them will choose not to, for understandable reasons. So it does leave Egypt with a hot potato.
