Some progressives’ reactions to Meta CEO Zuckerberg’s announcement:. @AOC: “We got a bunch of billionaire ass kissers.”. @MaxwellFrostFL: “I was like, damn, Facebook had fact checkers?”. @SenWarren: “I’m a little surprised to hear that he thinks [X is] a successful model.”.

. to Pound Town?.
This is taken out of context, Glenn. We all look forward to @Kash_Patel taking these idiotic Democrats to Pound Town if/when they decide to waste their time asking him about hypothetical conspiracy theories in his hearing. 🍿.

Cisneros defeated Kim and was elected to Congress in 2018, then she defeated him in a 2020 rematch. Now they’re serving together.
You never know who you’ll run into on the House floor!. Looking forward to working with you, @gilcisnerosca.

Jim Justice will be sworn in 10 days after all the other newly elected senators, which will make the 73-year-old two-term governor the most junior member of the US Senate.
Gov. Jim Justice makes official what I've been told by sources now for weeks: Justice will wait to resign as governor to take his U.S. Senate seat until Jan. 13 when Governor-Elect Patrick Morrisey is sworn in.

glad to see that senators are getting the same kind of flash cards i got when i was a summer page in 2015 lol.
New job, same mission: To work across the aisle and get things done. To do that I need to know my new colleagues. So to help, they give us flash cards so we can learn about our new colleagues and their states. Can’t wait to forge new relationships to deliver for Michigan!

cropping out Trump is maybe the most resistance-y thing i've seen from a major pol since he won.
President Jimmy Carter loved our country. He lived his faith, served the people, and left the world better than he found it. President Carter’s many contributions will echo for generations to come.

Why the Rotunda and not like, the House chamber?.
NEW: Trump’s inauguration is expected to be moved indoors Monday due to dangerously cold temperatures projected in DC. Plans are underway to have Trump be sworn in inside the Capitol Rotunda and the parade potentially be held at the Capital One Arena.

is this why he stopped tweeting.
SCOOP: President-elect Donald Trump is encouraging Vivek Ramaswamy to take the Ohio Senate seat vacated by JD Vance's departure, per sources. Unclear what this would mean for DOGE, which Trump picked Ramaswamy & Musk to lead in November. Senate decision up to Ohio's governor.

Rep. Kay Granger is in a senior living center, but it's not memory care, @dallasnews reports. But her son says she's been "having some dementia issues late in the year."

Torres's bio — "Personal account in which I speak for myself rather than for the federal government" — has always read to me as an "I'm allowed to block you from this account" disclaimer.
.@RitchieTorres is blocking everyone on X, including @GovKathyHochul's staffers.

one of the great tragedies of Twitter allowing for long tweets is that this tweet otherwise would’ve been in some sort of Canva-style graphic format, or perhaps even the Notes app. we’ve been robbed.
I can understand why some people are upset about a 20 year old story of Cricket, one of the working dogs at our ranch, in my upcoming book — No Going Back. The book is filled with many honest stories of my life, good and bad days, challenges, painful decisions, and lessons.

it’s fairly common for staff to help members of Congress with parliamentary procedure, it’s arcane stuff.
Here's 81 year old congresswoman @VirginiaFoxx who just fell down House stairs blanking on the House floor before being told what to say by a staffer in 2023

smoke-filled rooms used to be aspirational.
Some smoke in the Senate wing after Thune’s first use of the fireplace in the GOP leader suite. It likely hasn’t been used since 2007, when McConnell first moved in. As Leader, he hung a portrait of Henry Clay that was on loan, under the stipulation the fireplace not be used.

Happens in the House more than you might think!.
@metzgov Pat and I maintain a healthy friendship and I am grateful. It’s hard to think serving even a single term in the United States Congress is somehow a defeat. Public service isn’t what I do, it’s who I am… and this has been a privilege and honor.

it's not like a half-staff flag will show up in any inauguration shots, given that it's inside now.
👀 Flag-ging: Speaker Johnson previously said the House would raise the US flags for Inauguration Day to full staff, but operations are encountering an issue: the cords are frozen, a source in Johnson’s office confirms to me.

One of those non-returning members is GOP Rep. Marc Molinaro, who’s presiding over this last vote. Democratic Rep. Pat Ryan, his opponent in a 2022 special election, could be seen on the C-SPAN feed walking up to the podium and shaking his hand.
Just keep thinking these end of year votes must feel so anticlimactic for members not returning -- your last vote as a lawmaker and folks are like running out the door, can't leave fast enough, screaming "Merry Christmas" over their shoulders.

i feel like the oppo's gonna go crazy in the NJ-GOV race.
In April, @RepJoshG held a press conference in front of a Planned Parenthood office to announce a bill to protect access to the abortion pill. Eight months later, Gottheimer has not introduced it, despite campaign statements claiming to have done so.

House Republicans have almost reached their 1-vote majority. Once Elise Stefanik is confirmed as UN Ambassador, they'll be at 217-215.
The clerk read a message announcing the resignation of @RepWaltzPress effective Jan. 20. The Chair announced that in light of the resignation, the whole number of the House is 433 (218 Republicans, 215 Democrats and two vacancies).

Progressive staffers want to bring the 32-hour workweek to Congress. @cpsaDC is set to send this letter to members later today. Would be rotating — 32-hour week for DC staff when Congress is out of session, 32-hour week for district staff when they're in session.
