LATAM is the real Wild West that America tries to sell you. You want freedom? Go live in Mexico. Here money truly buys you everything. From speeding to construction, pay a little money and you can get whatever you want. You may not like it. But I do.

Walking around Toronto at 2am: Streets are dead. No street food, no restaurants (only shawarma), bars stop serving. Mexico City at 2am: People walking and sometimes even drinking on the street, many taco places still open, bars still trying to get you to come inside.

@blockchainchick Recency bias. Modern day people truly underestimate how much power the papacy had. The lies, wars, agreements, etc. They shaped history more than we know it during their height with power. I bet their hiding some truly nasty things.

Nothing better than having a Latina girlfriend. Was out the house and awake for more than 48 hours which included a 12 hour snow run. I came home to freshly cooked 3 course meal, lunch for the next day, cookies for dessert and incredible sex to put me to sleep. Thank you God.

@BowTiedPassport Disease is what ultimately killed the Aztecs. The Aztecs drove the Spaniards out of Tenochtitlán and into the land around the lake. When the Spaniards returned with reinforcements disease had already killed the majority of the population. But indeed impossible without Tlaxcala.

@Tablesalt13 Canada in rapid decline as immigration is on a rapid rise. You cant compete with a culture of people who will live 10 people in a 3 bedroom and will take wages well below minimum wage for cash. Saying the quiet part out loud. As a SMB owner we’re competing with this.

Off to Brasil tomorrow. Maybe 15 years since my last time in Miami. My honest opinion, it’s a little underwhelming. Maybe it’s the season. Feels empty, over priced, not the most walkable, transit non existent. Uber everywhere. Food is great though.

@MyLatinLife I find this mindset only to be true if from the suburbs. Even the idea of taking public transit to them is lower class. City folks however don’t see this as true. I know a lot of upper class city people who don’t own cars and are fine with paying Ubers to go everywhere or TTC

Anecdotal, but everyone I know who was WFH is now being called back to the office minimum 3x a week. They’re all upset, but companies aren’t budging. Office REITs are incredibly cheap due to bad sentiment and are offering great dividend yields. Could be great opportunity.

So far my stay has been a trip down memory lane. I lived here for a year in 2019-2020. I lived on Rio Tigris in Reforma. Currently staying in Rio Lerma. I’m reminiscing a lot on this trip. Mexico City is still my favourite city in the world. Barcelona came quite close.

@BowTiedColombia Every Mexican I talk to in Canada wants to eventually move back to their country. They want enough to buy a house and they’ll happily return. Quality of life and culture back home is much better than in Canada. Problem is many fall into the spending trap and then can’t leave.

Centro Histórico, Polanco and Reforma still surprisingly do not feel overran by foreigners. The Mexicans do not hate foreigners despite what you might hear on social media. Things are still quite cheap. Surprisingly cheap. Cityzen is an exception 😅😂

Lived in Mexico City in 2019. Lived off of $2000 CAD roughly including my rent $14,000 MXN at the time. Off of reforma, in a studio apartment. In Toronto, my rent alone is $2000. Monthly expenses in Toronto are easily double. If you make online $, definitely move to save more.

@Jakebadkins @mattroberts @EvManCh Hundreds of millions would be needed to renovate these office spaces to make them suitable to be apartments, also the re-zoning costs, etc. The economics don’t justify it now, but maybe after some more selling they will.

Canada is a Ponzi scheme that relies on a constant inflow of immigrants to prop up housing prices and to work the jobs many Canadians don’t want to work. There are few solid companies based here and many jobs pay much higher in the US for the same role.
