I have heard some autistics claim autism is not a disability in itself but only a disability because of a lack of adaptations. They left me out of the memo. My autism is disabling and impairing even when alone in my bedroom - the exhaustion, over thinking, executive dysfunction

Benefits are so low that many use some of their PIP to contribute toward cost of food, heating, rent etc. If in vouchers, this will mean many disabled can't even afford the basics, let alone what qualifies as a dignified life - hobbies, self improvement etc

If you have a condition that is legally considered a disability, distancing yourself from disability is a mark of both privilege but also ableism. Some autistic celebrities have claimed autism is not a disability - this is totally irresponsible and blatant ableism.

@PrematureTantie Yeah OCD thoughts cause extreme distress and anxiety precisely because they represent the worst fears someone has and what they dread happening, so the thoughts are not what one actually wants, the thoughts are alien to your values, why it's so upsetting
