So many rioters are using the excuse that they forgot to take their ADHD meds. I don't even have access to ADHD meds, yet I managed not to participate because the riots go against my values. ADHD can make you more impulsive, but it doesn't make you a far-right racist.

I was diagnosed with autism when I was 11, 20 years ago, all the support groups I joined supported self-diagnosis. Recently I've seen a lot of more recently diagnosed people speaking out against self-dx. Any criticism will be met with 'you're bullying an autistic person'. 1/3

I meditate, eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, cycle several times a week yet I still have depression and anxiety. Those things help, but they're not cures. Mental illnesses are beyond our control, we can't get rid of them by doing the 'right' things, we can only manage them.

People warn about the 'dangers of self-diagnosis', but if I hadn't recognised my OCD traits as an illness, I'd be dead. Multiple mental health professionals agree I have it, but they claim I don't need a diagnosis. This leaves me in limbo. 1/4

Someone missed the point of the #AssumeThatICan video. People with Down Syndrome aren't angels, their minds aren't automatically sweet and pure. They are humans. They can drink, have sex, date, parent, party, work etc. Some people deny them the opportunity.

Therapy won't cure my 'phobia' of dogs because it's not a phobia. Its sensory overload caused by autism. The only treatment is ABA which causes long-term harm. I just need dog owners to respect my boundaries.

Just because autism is an invisible disability, it doesn't mean no one can work out we're autistic. I'm tired of people, some of whom are also autistic, assuming that everyone can appear neurotypical. Not all of us can and it just pushes the idea that we're not trying.

I expect their journey has been painful and full of self-loathing. After getting a diagnosis, it explains a lot and lets them 'forgive' themselves for not living up to NT expectations. They may embrace their autism and focus on the positive aspects of their identity. 2/3

I'm seeing more people claim autistic adults aren't autistic, but actually have BPD/EUPD. They normally attack late diagnosed people, but sometimes go after people who were diagnosed as children. I'm worried this will make it harder for people to be diagnosed.

Friendly reminder that just because someone can cycle, it doesn't mean they have good mobility. Cycling is a form of low-impact exercise, often good for managing conditions which cause fatigue/pain. They're also good for people who struggle with public transport.

Growing up, autism was seen as a shameful thing. I was called slurs, bullied, while people drummed into me that I couldn't use it as an excuse. That made me feel more ashamed because it meant meltdowns were a choice, and any struggles were due to laziness or incompetence. 1/3
