I meditate, eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, cycle several times a week yet I still have depression and anxiety. Those things help, but they're not cures. Mental illnesses are beyond our control, we can't get rid of them by doing the 'right' things, we can only manage them.

Therapy won't cure my 'phobia' of dogs because it's not a phobia. Its sensory overload caused by autism. The only treatment is ABA which causes long-term harm.

I'm tired of people, some of whom are also autistic, assuming that everyone can appear neurotypical. Not all of us can and it just pushes the idea that we're not trying.

I've known people with NPD who try to find advice on coping with their condition only to be met with information about how people like them are bad or dangerous.

Does it mean autism is taken less seriously? Maybe, but ableism is at fault. Taking autism seriously shouldn't come at the cost of pushing autistic people to disclose their trauma.

I'm seeing more people claim autistic adults aren't autistic, but actually have BPD/EUPD. They normally attack late diagnosed people, but sometimes go after people who were diagnosed as children.
I'm worried this will make it harder for people to be diagnosed.

The neurodiversity movement taught me that I don't need to feel ashamed. It taught me that my struggles aren't a personal failing.
My life isn't perfect, and I'm not always proud to be autistic but I no longer hate that part of myself.

I have to be careful to avoid triggers. Romantic relationships are a trigger, and so is religion, which is hard when you're from a religious family.

Friendly reminder that just because someone can cycle, it doesn't mean they have good mobility.
Cycling is a form of low-impact exercise, often good for managing conditions which cause fatigue/pain. They're also good for people who struggle with public transport.

Growing up, autism was seen as a shameful thing.
I was called slurs, bullied, while people drummed into me that I couldn't use it as an excuse.
That made me feel more ashamed because it meant meltdowns were a choice, and any struggles were due to laziness or incompetence. 1/3
