Personally feel like PAs should document their supervisors number and name for patient interactions. See how quickly the supervising consultant will allow them to go from seeing undifferentiated patients back to a more assistant role then, no need for regulation.

Another 24 hours in medicine, ACPs performing breast surgery, first year PAs running GP surgeries, PAs having a “team of pharmacists” and being experts in 4 chronic diseases. When will this cycle end, we just angry and move onto the next case study.

To this day I remember a patient coming in with liver mets of unknown origin to AMAU. I referred to the acute inpatient oncology service, the PA I had supervised who was “specialising” at the time in respiratory just 4 months earlier showed up.1/

@doctor_dru_ You're so full of yourself. The Physician Associate national exam is "bloody hard". The post-nominals means we've completed the course, passed the certification exam (on top of our university exams), and remain in good standing by keeping up with the necessary CPD requirements.

Crazy thought, a doctor with 5/6 years medical school, 2 years foundation training, one year as a GPST1 - could in theory have their first day as a GP the same day as a PA, at their first day as a PA student with two years plant biology undergrad. Both would have two years left.

Our neighbouring health board has PAs In microbiology. Beyond the crazy competition ratios, what are they offering ?? You need expertise or ability to prescribe - being paid band 7/8 to be the equivalent of a voicemail at present.

How hed met the consultant looking after him and they’d send their junior doctors to organise arranging a scan. I informed the onc reg who said they had been sent down to sign the CT scan and prescribe steroids. I despair to think what specialist service this PA now “leads”
