The Board members of Literature Alliance Scotland (LAS) would like to offer a sincere apology for the recent uploading of a resource to the LAS website and the offence this has caused.
The Board members recognise this is a significant failure and after holding a Board meeting today it has been agreed that the Chair of the Board, Sarah Mason, will step down with immediate effect.
The document was uploaded without any prior sight or approval by board members, and the Board would like to make it clear that the document does not represent the views of LAS and is not endorsed by its members.
We have become aware a resource on our website has been flagged by a number of our followers. It was a document submitted to LAS for review but was deemed unsuitable in its current form and was never Board approved. It was uploaded in error & should have been removed more swiftly
Exciting announcement🔊
We're delighted to appoint Jenny Niven (
@jennyniv

#WhatLibrariesDo
Beyond lending books, they:
Offer free access to computers & wifi
Provide free newspapers
Help with social isolation
Run amazing events
Provide a safe, warm, non-judgmental public space, open to all.
#Libraries
are a ‘must-have’ service.
#LibrariesMatter
I've been thinking about how many people have been surprised by all the other services public libraries provide. Wouldn't it be great to publicise that?
Maybe we could start a hashtag like
#WhatLibrariesDo
to talk about the things that they do beyond lending books. Thoughts?
