Asked husband if he had any elastic bands, and he immediately said, yes, he had ‘three.’ He goes into the living room and lifts a cushion on the settee and lying in the dust are exactly three elastic bands. He looked really pleased with himself. I can’t stop thinking about it.

My own beautiful mother died of her addiction about 28 years ago. She was never voiceless - it was just people didn’t like to listen. I like to think she’ll be dancing in heaven tonight. All the lassies from the scheme will be there, cans cracked, Rod Stewart blaring. 💙🏴💙.

This is heartbreaking. I grew up dependent on hot school dinners: some days my mother was too unwell to provide. I am immensely grateful to British people for not letting me go hungry. For reminding this wee boy that he was seen and valued, and that he was worth caring about.
Tonight conservative MPs voted against extending lunch vouchers for school children. Let’s put it another way: they voted for 2.4m children in England to go hungry. Some days my school lunch was the only meal I got. This government is disgusting.
