This is a real stat - Zack Greinke had a higher fWAR (8.7; 33 GS) in the 2009 season than any Kansas City Royal pitcher did cumulatively from 2005-2012 (Meche, 8.6; 100GS).

2nd time I’ve seen someone I’ve personally known over the past 3 months get shit on for throwing 96+ out of the zone on twitter.
In both instances these athletes have had their velo jump 8 and 15+ mph respectively since HS.

When I looked at this ~3 years ago I got something like this
JuCo BABIP = .355
D2/3 BABIP = .340
D1 BABIP = .325
MLB BABIP = ~.295
IMO - Pitchers at poor junior colleges may be a bit undervalued by 4-years due to brutal defenses killing their ERA’s.
I was a .380 hitter in college and a .233 hitter in pro ball. I get asked what was the biggest difference?
Sure pitching was better
Sure I was swinging wood
BUT the biggest difference: the DEFENSE!
