In addition:
- Clean. Clean. Clean your data.
- Focus on what is important. Sometimes, less is more.
- Sometimes, too many labels can make your dashboard “noisy”. Declutter where you can.
- If your model is wrong, your analysis will be wrong.
- Document as you go - not afterwards
Data Visualization rules I live by:
- minimal colors
- data label always
- white/Grey background is safest
- use line charts for time series data
- use appropriate titles for each chart
- write summaries for every dashboards
- avoid pie and 3D charts where possible
