I enjoyed that book for the diagrams like this, but was disappointed by the fact the author just had to after going into the nitty-gritty of female anatomy - do a virtual signal for males who consider themselves to be women later in the book.

Stock is a gender non-conforming woman, if she suddenly opted to identify as a trans man she would then be gender conforming. Because that is what gender is. Perpetuating out-dated regressive stereotypes from the past on how the sexes should look.

The book is about female anatomy. And more specifically how female health conditions are ignored because of lack of research. It's jarring that the author just goes off into gender realm when not all who have female anatomy call themselves women. Hope that helps.

The difference is she is not claiming that dressing masculine means she is magically now a man. I get your sexist brain is stuck in the late 19th, early 20th century, but women can wear suits and have short hair and still be women.

Taylor all due respect those are two separate issues. Put it this way if your surgery was 1) done by an untrained non-medical person 2) in unsanitary conditions and not in a hospital 3) no anaesthesia, it might be right to compare, but it won't have been.
