I am so uncomfortably all-in on $RIVN.
With the money I’m “down” I could buy a fully loaded R1S.
But I believe deeply in the company, the leadership team, and the mission.
Rivian is the next GM to Tesla’s Ford.

Rivian $RIVN gave a direct answer as to how they will achieve gross profit in 2024:

Hypothetically, if $AAPL Apple purchased $RIVN Rivian there would need to be a significant premium against $AMZN Amazon’s stake. Possibly a bidding war. Low end ~$20-$25/share depending on how you view book value, cash, etc.
Not a likely scenario imho but does set a price floor.

Really great overview of $RIVN Rivian’s Georgia plant situation.
Personally I don’t understand the anger, the company has until 2030 (6 years) which seems like a significant buffer to fulfill commitments.
Members of a state Senate subcommittee explored ways Monday to potentially punish electric vehicle maker Rivian days after the company put on hold its $5 billion Georgia factory and asked about options for the state-owned land if the plant is never built.

Most people never see this - Rivian $RIVN has always been a good buyout candidate. At a $11.1B market cap with $7.8B in cash+equivalents, a buyer would effectively pay only $3.3B.
Add the valuable tech stack and brand value…it’s easy to imagine a price war. $AAPL $AMZN $GOOG
There is a random Rivian here at I/O . . . I predict Google is buying Rivian.

This is a good 🧵on why EV companies “lose” so much per car.
In the US, GAAP requires research and development to be treated as an expense versus other accounting methods.
Put another way - if you gain weight by putting on muscle, is that bad?
A thing people really do not understand about US companies fretting about their per-car EV losses stories is that this is almost entirely a spurious issue about the unique way US accountants treat certain types of R&D spending. 🧵

Not knowing the specifics, I question why the deal wasn’t ironed out before the Georgia pause. There was more leverage then and it seems like the $ incentive is now smaller than anticipated.
Rivian $RIVN has jumped to session high of +8% after announcing more than $800M in new incentives from Illinois to expand the Normal plant for R2. The company will invest $1.5B in the expansion of that facility.

I think KBBQ has a lot of growth potential but not sure $GENK seeing performance as $KRUS. Their revolving sushi bar is a “pseudo” moat w/ high capital barrier. Gen packaging their meat is a cost saver maybe until competitors tries it. Will keep an eye, thanks for the write up
