Yeah we also talked about coping mechanisms that are sustainable long term when having urges to smoke and/or use. It was a long conversation but we worked together to find what would work best for them.

For context, my mother is the same woman who couldn’t get ahold of my older sister for a couple of hours, her freshman year of college. My mother who unbeknownst to us befriended the Dean of Students at my sister’s school, and hit her new friend up to track down my sister.

Y’all love my mum as much as I do! That’s my girl! She don’t play about me! When UT tried to charge me for laundry, she drove from Houston to Austin and back to Houston every weekend so I could do my laundry for free. I know now I was bugging but she never complained!

As a medical student you are there to learn not to judge the way you get treated. We all go through this and get used to be ignored so will you. Life is all about taking all those opportunities one gets ; you can filter some but in medicine learning from all is best !

My Step 1 advisor told me a resource I was using wasn’t an accurate indicator for the exam, and I asked them when they took the exam. They said never. I continued to use the resource and passed my exam.

This was my experience. I reacted to both doses but worked with team of healthcare professionals before and after both doses to ensure my safety. I don’t regret getting the COVID vaccine and would do it again.
Attn all healthcare colleagues: Pls refer all patients who report allergic rxns to COVID vaccine to your friendly Allergist/Immunologist specialists. Most patients, even those with documented anaphylaxis to PEG or adverse rxn after 1st dose can safely get 2nd!

We in public health fought for teachers to be prioritized for vaccines.
Vaccines + boosters protect very well against severe illness to omicron. Wearing a high quality mask further protects you.
Teachers unions: Please stop the delays. We need all schools to be in-person, now.

You should stop policing what people eat. Its rooted in fatphobia. Not everyone has access to fresh fruits, vegetables, lean protein. Even if they do they’re allowed to enjoy a donut.

That’s not true. Plenty of people talk about skinny shaming. We shouldn’t talk about people’s bodies period. But people that are deemed as fat are systemically excluded. Skinny people are not. They are two separate conversations.

My old therapist definitely used to say to me “girl you aren’t stupid so you should refrain from saying things that would make me believe that you are”. I loved her for it!
Therapists sometimes act like everything someone says is valid and worthy of consideration and that’s my biggest problem with them. It is also useful to know when to say to someone “what you just said is stupid”.

We have access to our parent’s my chart. It makes it easier to explain things but also to communicate with their doctors for them and for us. It’s a great way to stay informed on literally everything because girl you know they’re old and everything hurts.

I am also very sad to hear this about Dr. Wiese. He is an outstanding clinician and educator. He was the reason I pursued a career in medicine over surgery. I never perceived any biases in him but my lack of awareness highlights the importance of constant internal reflection.

I moved from Houston to DC. I had three extra large shipping boxes from Lowe’s. We dropped the boxes off but then they delivered them to my apartment. It took exactly one week. Rates depend on the weight, size of the boxes, and the number of boxes.
