Publishing economics articles takes on average 2-1/4 years from the time an article is submitted. At least 10% of articles take 4+ years. An experiment shows that much of the work that lengthens this process adds nothing to the value of the research.

Deeply shocked and saddened by the death of Alan Krueger at age 58. An IZA Fellow since 2001 and co-winner of the 2006 IZA Prize, Alan was known by many in our network as a brilliant, inspiring economist and a kind person, always devoted to improving people’s lives. Huge loss.

All-female-authored papers are less likely to be accepted at econ conferences than all-male-authored papers (controlling for a number of factors). Gap is larger for prominent authors and entirely driven by male referees.
