: Can you tell me how Economics is supposed to be MORE inclusive if top journal & top field journals are asking $150-$300 submission fees, even if paper is desk rejected? Do you know the budget for research outside of the R1 universities?
My experience too: "The quick answer is women are held to higher standards. The long answer involves systemic gender biases at *every step* along academia's path to seniority-- the tenure track. (And no, it is not about women wanting to start families)."

Happy international women's day... insights from 2011 to present.

Question: practically all are from R1 institutions. Yet, good research is also done outside R1, despite higher teaching load, less resources, and network access. Diversity is important...
Having more women as editors and co-editors would help as well as having more gender equity at the places where decisions are being made. Little "fun" fact: all of my top publications (but one) were handled by a female editor.

Our letter has made it to Bloomberg. Awaiting the institutional response. IZA has been so helpful to many of us, professionally; not only to the well connected. Instead it was extremely helpful to those of us who were in less connected positions. It was a game changer. We care!
"Fully exonerated" keeps being repeated by Falk-related spokesmen.
I don't think that word means what they think it means.
Great coverage of the IZA issue in Bloomberg.
Changing gender roles in middle school by eliminating segregated & gender-normative industrial arts and home economics has long-term consequences in gender gaps in home production and labor-market jobs. See video for example and JOLE article for evidence.
Celebrating little/big victories: Me & my co-authors were invited to revise the manuscript! Thank you to the editor & the referees for their interest in our work and the opportunity!! 🥳🥳
Now, let's get to work!
Normalizing rejections... Today, I got my third one of 2024. After 8 months submission, I did not expect this one. Apparently, focusing on gender is a "limited contribution to the literature".
Me and three of my (female) cousins: the neurologist, the law professor, and judge, and the policymaker. The other two (the actress, and the teacher and union leader) could not make it.
We're super excited to have
