Today my boys Ocen (left) and Opiyo turn 5. They are an Acoli/Aotearoa mix speaking Luo and English…. Hope to have them in Aotearoa/New Zealand soon and have them fluent in te reo Māori as well…

I hardly saw my Dad who was working or out…. I had my first kids at 62, twin boys, they have two older siblings aged 11 and 16 .. I’m now 68 and do as little as possible spending as much time with the kids as I can .. we have little but we have each other living in Gulu, Uganda

Just the best thing.. I so wish we had it at school when I was there. As a Pākeha I love the elevation and restoration of our Māori and Polynesian cultures… this is who we are and defines us. Bring on Aotearoa and a flag with a kiwi - that is what I call myself living in Gulu

As a kiwi on Africa … I have been proud of PM Jacinda and her Govt… at the same time disgusted by the abuse and hatred from sectors. I used to believe we had a great country, I am not so sure anymore!!
And the problem is western and US culture without a doubt

Some days life is a dream … here am I just arrived at Te Got Awere in Odek, Omoro District, Northern Uganda… it is 36°. behind is the hut we built in 2017 and on the mat is my Acoli partner Auma Alice Mirriam with Opiyo one of our almost 5 twin boys. Pinching myself at 67 yrs

We can’t feed everyone but this evening we had our boys with five other kids for supper.. three neighbours who have no food, Elvis we just treated for malaria - a runaway and Sheila we are looking for support with education - sent to us from a village!! The kids cooked
