The "slaughtered previous inhabitants" is a fiction first debunked in 1935 (Williams), then again in 1976 (Simmons) and also 1978 (Sorrenson). Māori were here first.
The Mãori are New Zealand's native people because (*𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨*) they rocked up 600 years ago to enslave, push out, and slaughter the real indigenous population that was already living there. Now everyone apologise for their suffering and pay your reparations.
