My incredible MIL passed away this morning. I really lucked out in the MIL dept & am so very sad to lose her.
Our fam has lost 3 matriarchs/patriarchs in the last 8 mths. Too much - BUT, we were blessed w/time & the chance to be with ea of them as they passed.

Dad is in the hospital. During our visit this aft, he was mostly sleepy/non-communicative. Tonight they tell us to return as they don’t think it will be long…but he’s as awake & chatty as I've seen him.

What a sad time in history that many in control of our health/safety during our most vulnerable moments must be “asked” to protect us with everything they’ve got?
When did it become a patient’s job to ask for safety mitigations that a global pandemic showed are beneficial?
Major Toronto hospitals are dropping mandatory masking in several units including ER. Requests of staff to mask will be respected. Those that mask will be respected. This reflects the Toronto Region Hospital Operations Table. Personally - I will still mask.

If you are older or immunocompromised, it can still be quite serious
That's why a vaccine for those folks on at least an annual basis is critical

And since approx 40% of Covid infections are asymptomatic, until preventative vax, effective antivirals & better indoor air quality are the norm, masks ARE the way to

It is SO hard.
A while back I remember reminding my kids to “hang in there”, “keep masking”, etc. and my one teen said, “But nothing ever changes” 🥺😞.
What do we do with that?

We experience the same here in Ontario with a “Chief Medical Officer of Health” whose only action is ever “surveillance”.
Exactly. And I despair at the fact that hospital systems here haven't realised the very basic fact that if you wait until cases are very high to re-introduce masking, you're already too late. In healthcare settings, masking should be universal and constant.

Need to remove distractions like preventable illness - brain fog, extreme fatigue, depression, inability to keep up because of so much missed school due to illness, or due to caregiving for parents with illness brought home from school.

Updated Novavax vaccine is already approved in the US and in the EU.
For some people Novavax is the only option as their bodies don’t tolerate the other ones (e.g. due to an allergy to some ingredients in the buffer)

THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE RESPIRATORY PATHOGENS BEING TRANSMITTED THROUGH THE AIR IS TO SAY THE WORD "AIRBORNE". WHO wants to introduce terms like "puff cloud". This is a retrograde step. I for one won't be playing ball.

No one is wanting kids to be out of class. Some brds are simply switching PA Days. Some are dismissing a tad early b/c the eclipse is happening at dismissal time & they worry for kids’ eyes!
