This plan is as ridiculous as it is insulting. Ontarians don't want their tax dollars buried under the 401, they want to be able to afford a home, they want a family doctor, they want reliable regional transit. Ford isn't serious about reducing traffic and he isn't serious about making life better in Ontario.

Under Doug Ford, life has gotten more and more unaffordable: food banks are seeing record numbers of full time workers accessing their services, homelessness has risen to unprecedented levels and record high rent is forcing people to choose between eating and a roof over their head. That's why today I announced the Ontario Greens plan for a fairer Ontario. We're proposing a tax cut for folks making under $65,000 a year paid for by ensuring the wealthiest Ontarians pay their fair share. The status quo isn't working. Ontario Greens will save you $1700 a year to combat the cost of living crisis Doug Ford has left us in.

Ford tried to pave over our farmland to enrich wealthy land speculators. That is what the $8.3 billion Greenbelt scandal was all about, insider lobbyists, backroom deals, brown envelopes. It all stinks. Ontarians deserve to know how the Greenbelt deals came to be before deciding on who should govern Ontario for the next four years.

Yesterday we announced our Grow Ontario Plan. Our food and farming sector is one of Ontario's greatest assets, and it's important that we protect it from Doug Ford. Ontario cannot continue to lose over 300 acres of farmland everyday, and we need to make sure our local farmers have the support they need to make a living.

Farming is one of Ontario's greatest strengths, it's key to our food security and it's been put at risk by the Ford government. He's paving over 319 acres of farmland every day, putting the profits of big speculators over our food security and local farmers. Our Grow Ontario Plan will protect prime farmland and support the profitability of Ontario's $50 billion food & farming sector.

Ontarians won't forget about Doug Ford trying to pave over our farms and green spaces to benefit billionaire land speculators. We're still finding out new details about the deals Ford's staff were making in backrooms. Ford needs to come clean to Ontario and the RCMP about who he was trying to sell Ontario to.

In light of this good news, we will remain laser focused on tackling the housing affordability and healthcare crises, addressing overcrowded classrooms, and protecting the farmland that feeds us – all things that Doug Ford has made worse over the past 7 years, making Ontario more vulnerable and life less affordable. Today, we announced our plan to save first-time homebuyers $150K on their first home, and I'll be announcing more of our plans over the coming days.

The provincial government needs to take responsibility for fixing the housing crisis. That's why our Affordable Communities Fund will pay for the infrastructure that our communities need to grow instead of putting the costs on new homebuyers. Building homes people can afford in the communities they know and love must be a top priority for government.

In the face of these tariffs, we need a team Ontario approach, not a power-grabbing snap election. As we work to protect and support the businesses and jobs most at-risk from tariffs, we need to respond forcefully to defend Ontario, invest in local supply chains, and aggressively diversify trade partners.

So instead of making the wealthiest pay their fair share, we're all paying to deliver $200 cheques to millionaires and billionaires like Galen Weston. Ford's bribe cheques are wasteful and unfair to people struggling to find a home they can afford, access to healthcare or a classroom that is not overcrowded. That's $3B that could be used to build affordable homes, address the healthcare crisis and lower class sizes.
