I was down at the Piraeus, casually vibing with Glaucon, son of Ariston, when he looked at his phone and exclaimed, "See what this man has tweeted, Socrates! Have you not expressed this many times?"
"Zeus no!" I replied. "I love *framed stories*. Paintings are lying imitations."
Forgot how much I love frame stores

@cookiecarver
You're expressing desire for a life that is more single dude, and she's saying, "oh, you want to be single?"
Could be she's wondering/hurt if it seems like you don't want commitment, etc.
@janecoaston
I am sick and tired of being at a bar, or a restaurant, or the grocery store and hearing group after group of young women just blaspheming the heck against god's only begotten son.
Every. darn. time.
@sevensixfive
That sounds good in theory, but won't I have to spring for the Carryall too if I want to keep my newborn from being devoured by Shai Hulud? I'm not made of money, you know.
@eigenrobot
The Pentateuch is full of doublet and even triplet stories like this. It's a key piece of evidence that led Wellhausen to the Documentary Hypothesis.
@BretDevereaux
No, it's worse! I'm saying, we're not even at the point where we can be confident a history teacher has been taught or trained by historians.
On a recent episode of the Yaron Brook show, I was asked why antisemitism was on the rise. I said irrationality (thus barbarity) was ascendant, and antisemitism was "the lowest hanging fruit on the tree of human depravity". This is a complementary account.
@yaronbrook

And you know no one actually told him "lots of black people like you". So this is him trying to boast about something he made up with a racist insult.

God forbid the Biden administration allows Trump to start getting daily intelligence briefings out of some misplaced desire to retain normalcy, appear fair, etc.
I went Dark Academia-lite, but I had to give a recorded lecture earlier in the day, and I wanted a touch of that "they-aren't-dead-languages-if-I-can-speak-them-with-the-dead" vibe.
If the ballet, Poe / A Tale of Madness, is half as interesting as the crowd, I shall be truly captivated.
The goth/ never-goth/ once-goth dynamics are not to be missed.

I like tell people that leaning D&D from

is like learning sex from watching porn. It's never going to be like *that*.
Although, in this analogy your girlfriend is with a pornstar, so wtf do I know.
Rock on!
@ellegist
I agree with your main idea here, but maybe it's slightly over started? The oldest parts of the old testament—eg poems/poetic fragments—are probably a few centuries older than the written composition of the Homeric Epics, and J is likely older too, though probably not as much.
@NormOrnstein
From your legal expertise, what's most indicative that this is bad intentions and not just profound incompetence+ handling it defensively etc. The security risks in her latest decision?

Guesses:
* His mother's dress... and face.
* Chastity cage
* A red baseball cap
* Something starting with an s and maybe ending with a wastika?
Here are some love poems I've written over the years. Feel free to give them to your special someone tonight, Cyrano d'Bergerac style. Somebody should get something out of them if possible. 1/

On behalf of the 2AM booty callers and the 2AM booty calleds of this great nation, I'd like to thank the Star Cocktail Lounge for their good works.
IMO, the sacrilege here is to the American flag.
But yeah, Christian nationalists and their godless orange strongman are the greatest existential threats to American democracy.
A dirty, shaggy guy in a bathrobe in the middle of a park is telling a bunch of kids to come be his friends, with his arms stretched for a hug.
Look carefully. The child who filled this out chose the other path to an adorable duckling with butterfly wings.

If philosophers of mind or sorcerers have to go into back alleys to generate homunculi, no one benefits. We need to decriminalize the homunculus now!
I was super depressed reading about the memoir *Molly*, but then I found out about Elon's own "John Barron" sock puppet, Adrian Dittmann.
And just like that, the staggering possibilities of human brokenness are making me laugh.
Tomorrow PM I'll be recording on zoom,

I'd love a live audience reacting to the talk and asking impromptu, unscripted questions after. Your face/real name need not be on screen.

Ten months ago, we launched the Vesuvius Challenge to solve the ancient problem of the Herculaneum Papyri, a library of scrolls that were flash-fried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Today we are overjoyed to announce that our crazy project has succeeded. After 2000
Who was Socrates, really? Why is still synonymous with philosophy after more than 2400 years?
On Jan. 21, join me for an

Chatgpt gets it wrong (maybe?) Other sources suggest it's nostalgia not for the present but for things which one never experienced at all.
Socrates wrote nothing, but even before he died an *entire literary genre* of Socratic dialogues had emerged w/ many different authors and povs!
Let's talk about one of the most interesting and influential people of all time!

quoted the Bhagavad Gita... and nobody is saying "what you quoted doesn't make any sense and is downright ridiculous in light of the 'getting his company back' drama or owning IP while he tries to raise $7T."

Bryan Singer convinced Ian McKellan to be Magneto with this fact: the core readership/fanbase of X-Men was black, gay, and/or Jewish boys and young men.
@Aella_Girl
Not sure they were going for this in the Fountain, but those patterns look a lot like tefillin (article of ritual accoutrement worn by many Jewish men in prayer).

Do you want to operationalize/define "moderate+ PMS symptoms", or are you looking for a correlation between self-perception of PMS symptomaticity and [reported] enjoyment/non-enjoyment of being catcalled?

Think it's time to low-key quit Twitter again, at least for a while.
It's become just another addictive, numbing distraction from unbearable emotions and intolerable time.

But those parts of the world that do education better...don't many or even most also have public education? I'm not saying public education in the US is any good, nor that generally it's good or better than alternatives, I just don't think this particular argument works.

There's 0 evidence that Plato ever even started that dialogue much less wrote it. His last dialogue is traditionally and with decent reason taken to be the Laws.

They interest some people on the false assumption that they tell you much about evil, but I think more people find the sheer abnormality and uncanniness of their behavior to be intriguing.
I don't know why that's something to geek out to like they were Pokemon, though.
