The level of misinformation and disinformation we are experiencing today from our politicians is dangerous, and a very serious threat to our national peace and democracy. What happened in Mile 91 is a direct result of bad politicians passing around dangerous rhetoric and paying the poor youths to target their opponents. This has to stop!

The Unifier Team Denounces CashBox's Baseless Allegations Against Dr. Richard Konteh and Calls on Him to Produce Evidence The Unifier Team is categorically refuting recent audio disinformation circulating on social media accusing Dr. Richard Konteh of falsifying or forging the signature of President Ernest Bai Koroma. These false allegations propagated by a certain surrogate and mouthpiece of bad political actors known as "CashBox" (Alfred Cashbox) are categorically baseless and criminally orchestrated to defame the hard-earned integrity and reputation of Dr. Richard Konteh. The public would recall that on June 9th, 2014, Dr. Konteh was relieved of his duties as Chief of Staff to the President of Sierra Leone following an alleged unauthorized document granting unlimited authority to Mr. Alie Sumah to export value-added timber. After three years of thorough investigations and court proceedings in Freetown, the case against him was discharged by the High Court of Sierra Leone for lack of evidence. It is worth noting that during the trial, experts from the Sierra Leone Criminal Investigation Department conclusively provided credible evidence to confirm that it was rather Dr. Konteh's signature that was forged. There was no evidence of Dr. Konteh forging the President's signature, as was falsely propagated. The Current Chief Justice and other Judges presided over the matter. Dr. Konteh has consistently maintained that the case against him was a politically engineered smear campaign by his detractors to tarnish his reputation, undermine his impeccable relationship with his boss and ruin his political career. Despite these challenges, Dr. Konteh has remained resolute, stating in previous interviews, "It is the greatest misconception and lies I have ever known," and describing the charges as "political disinformation." In response to the current disinformation campaign by Alfred Cashbox, Dr. Konteh demands that Alfred and any other proponents of these false allegations provide concrete, verifiable evidence to substantiate their claims. Dr. Konteh underlines the importance of a fair and just legal process, stating, "If anyone has legitimate proof of my involvement in falsifying the President's signature, I invite you to present it in a court of law or to the public." It is also worth noting that the Appeals Court of Sierra Leone vindicated Dr. Richard Konteh and issued him a "Certificate of Discharge," clearing him of all adverse findings contained in the infamous Justice Biobele Commission of Inquiry report and the associated "White Paper." Dr. Konteh remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law. He reassures the public of his unwavering dedication to Sierra Leone, stating, "I will continue to work diligently for the unity and transformation of Sierra Leone undeterred by attempts to undermine his unblemished record with unfounded accusations." Sincerely, The Unifier Team

With recent revelations of drug trafficking involving Sierra Leone government officials at the Sierra Leone embassy in Guinea and the European most wanted drug trafficker, Jos Leijdekkers known as Bolle Jos, hiding in Sierra Leone under this SLPP government's watch, more troubling developments are emerging. According to this document, the Julius Maada Bio SLPP government appointed Agnes Bio, daughter of President Julius Maada Bio, as an alternate representative to the UN Security Council (UNSC). This should raise serious concerns about the possibility of diplomatic cover for criminal activities. Prior to this appointment, Agnes Bio held a position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a position she has occupied since her father's presidency began in 2018. Recent reports from Reuters have further amplified the concern, linking Agnes Bio to Jos Leijdekkers, who is infamous for his role in the European cocaine trade and is evading Dutch and European authorities. Could Agnes' diplomatic role be an intentional move to shield Leijdekkers from prosecution and grant him diplomatic immunity? The potential risks to Sierra Leone's image and security are catastrophic. It's becoming increasingly clear: a dangerous drug cartel could be taking root under the guise of diplomatic immunity, threatening both national and international stability. I'm calling on the United Nations Security Council, The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation, and our authorities in Sierra Leone to investigate these matters urgently. Sierra Leone deserves better leadership that upholds its international obligations and maintains its integrity in global affairs. @security_un @un_council @UN_News_Centre @Europol #SierraLeone #SaloneX @SLAJ_Salone @We_yoneNp @abdemata #richardkonteh #dunifier #TheUnifier @diaspora_apc @MoiceComm @dsengeh @Cee_Bah @accsierraleone @anticorruption @clerkPOSL @ecowas_cedeao @UKinSierraLeone @USEmbFreetown @EUinSierraLeone @NDI @Presidency_SL @SLAJ_Salone @slajpresident #MakingEuropeSafer @INTERPOL_HQ @Interpol_SG #police

Our country, Sierra Leone, has been making the international News recently, and it's all BAD News! A few days ago, a court in the USA ruled that the Bio government must face a lawsuit by Jenner & Block (a Chicago-based law firm), seeking $8 million in unpaid legal fees. This bad News follows recent revelations of an alleged drug trafficking operation involving the Sierra Leone embassy in Guinea and an alleged Dutch cocaine kingpin using a Sierra Leonean diplomatic passport under a false name to hide in the country under our authorities' protection. Moreover, the parliament of Sierra Leone and the Bio government are working overtime to secretly pass a controversial Counter-Terrorism Bill that has raised serious concerns about the erosion of our civil liberties in Sierra Leone. I continue my call for a thorough review of this bill, which is not only necessary but critical to safeguarding democracy and ensuring that our legal framework serves the best interests of the people. Anyway, seems like this Bio government is succeeding in tarnishing our national reputation. Yet we see them daily travelling on expensive trips in the guise of rebranding Sierra Leone. Every trip kind of devalues our national brand. This Bio government needs to get its house in order. #SierraLeone #SaloneX @SLAJ_Salone @We_yoneNp @abdemata #richardkonteh #dunifier #TheUnifier @diaspora_apc @MoiceComm @dsengeh @Cee_Bah @accsierraleone @anticorruption

The #CounterTerrorismBill2024 has sparked significant concern among Sierra Leoneans, with many questioning its potential impact on fundamental freedoms. While we all support efforts to protect national security and safeguard the lives of Sierra Leoneans, there is a delicate balance that must be struck between security measures and the protection of our basic rights. In my recent open letter to Hon. Abdul Kargbo, Leader of the APC Parliamentary Caucus, I raised several concerns regarding certain clauses in the Bill that could infringe on constitutional rights, particularly the freedoms we hold dear—such as the right to protest, the freedom to organize, and the ability to express dissent. These freedoms are fundamental to a democratic society and are enshrined in the 1991 Sierra Leone Constitution (Section 25 and Section 27). They are crucial to maintaining a democratic society where citizens can hold their government accountable and advocate for change. The Counter-Terrorism Bill 2024 includes provisions that could potentially criminalize peaceful protests or acts aimed at compelling government action, which are often part of democratic engagement. While the goal of combating terrorism is essential, we must be careful not to create laws that restrict our ability to express ourselves or engage in peaceful activism. I am grateful to Hon. Kargbo for his response, which demonstrates a commitment to transparency and public engagement. In response, I have attached my detailed analysis of specific clauses within the Bill that I believe could lead to unintended violations of fundamental rights, including issues around freedom of expression, due process, and the right to privacy. As we move forward, it is critical that we engage in a thoughtful and transparent review of the Bill to ensure that national security measures do not come at the expense of the very freedoms that define our democratic society. The right to protest, organize, and express dissent must be protected, and I hope that my concerns, along with those of many other Sierra Leoneans, will be carefully considered as we work toward legislation that safeguards both our national security and our rights. Please read my full response to Hon. Abdul Kargbo in the attachment on my website I look forward to further discussions on how we can create laws that are both effective in fighting terrorism and respectful of our fundamental freedoms. #SierraLeone #HumanRights #Democracy @abdemata @chrdiorg @clerkPOSL @ecowas_cedeao @UKinSierraLeone @USEmbFreetown @EUinSierraLeone @NDI @Presidency_SL @SLAJ_Salone @slajpresident #SaloneX @We_yoneNp

As the world commemorates the International Day of Clean Energy on January 26, it is critical to recognize the urgency of addressing Sierra Leone's energy crisis. The country's power shortage continues to hinder economic development, exacerbate social inequalities, and harm the environment. Yet, there is a growing momentum for change, and the promise of a cleaner, more reliable energy future is within reach. A Legacy of Energy Poverty: The Struggle for Power Sierra Leone has long been grappling with energy poverty. The country's electricity grid is underdeveloped, and the vast majority of our citizens—particularly in rural areas—are still without access to the national power supply. In rural regions, less than 20% of households are connected to the grid. This lack of electricity carries profound social and economic consequences that impede any national development. Dr. Richard Konteh Demands Full Accountability and Transparency Regarding Bolle Jos’ Alleged Drug Kingpin Hiding in Sierra Leone The recent reports on various international news media about Jos Leijdekkers, also known as “Bolle Jos,” hiding in Sierra Leone, a key European cocaine kingpin, highlight the urgent need for transparency, accountability, and comprehensive investigation in our nation. These revelations underscore the importance of tackling organized crime and corruption with full transparency. We must ensure that the investigation into the matter is thorough, inclusive, and free from any undue influence. No one, regardless of their position or affiliations, should be above the law. Sierra Leone’s international reputation and commitment to upholding the rule of law are at stake. It is critical that the authorities take swift action to investigate these allegations, cooperate with international partners, and ensure that justice is served without fear or favour. I call for an independent and transparent process in investigating this case, ensuring that no sacred cows are protected and that justice is delivered in full measure. Only through such diligence and accountability can we restore public trust and ensure the safety and security of Sierra Leone’s citizens. @EUinSierraLeone @UKinSierraLeone @USEmbFreetown @anticorruption @ecowas_cedeao @diaspora_apc #SierraLeone #SaloneX #richardkonteh #dunifier #TheUnifier

Today, January 24, 2025, we observe the International Day of Education with the theme 'AI and Education: Human Agency in an Automated World’. In Sierra Leone, higher education has long been seen as the gateway to earning a certificate—essentially a paper qualification that promises a job or career. The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will force us to question how and why we educate. Should our universities focus on preparing students for the future by integrating AI into the curriculum, or is there a deeper purpose to education that has been long overlooked? Is the goal simply to churn out paper certificates, or should we be fostering critical thinkers, creators, and contributors to society? Dr. Richard Konteh Condemns the Proposed Counterterrorism Act 2024 I strongly condemn the proposed Counterterrorism Act 2024, currently being discussed in the Sierra Leone Parliament. Although this legislation was introduced with the stated aim of curbing terrorism, it contains provisions that go beyond its intended purpose and strike at the very heart of Sierra Leone’s democratic foundations. The proposed law represents a grave and dangerous assault on our fundamental civil liberties, including the right to free speech, freedom of the press, freedom of conscience, and the right to peaceful assembly. We believe it is both unconstitutional and counterproductive to national unity and peace. Key Concerns: 1.Criminalization of Dissent – The law grants the government sweeping powers to designate individuals or organizations as “terrorists” based on the mere suspicion of opposition to government policies. This dangerously broad language could lead to the silencing of critics, journalists, and activists who raise legitimate concerns about governance, human rights, and corruption. 2.Violation of Constitutional Rights – Sections of the proposed law directly contradict Sierra Leone’s 1991 Constitution, which guarantees the fundamental rights of all citizens. In particular, it undermines the protections of freedom of speech and expression, essential to any thriving democracy. 3.Unaccountable Powers to Government Officials – This law proposes giving significant powers to government ministers and unelected officials, including imposing sanctions and confiscating assets under the guise of counterterrorism. This creates the potential for politically motivated actions that threaten the freedoms of Sierra Leoneans. 4.Lack of Public Consultation – The speed at which this law is being pushed through Parliament, without proper debate or public consultation, is deeply concerning. Such an important piece of legislation deserves to be thoroughly debated with all stakeholders, including the media, civil society, and the people it seeks to govern. 5.Chilling Effect on Media and Journalism – We have already witnessed increased hostility toward independent media in Sierra Leone, particularly outlets such as the Africanist Press. This law would provide a legal basis for silencing any media outlet that dares to hold power to account, undermining the free press essential to democracy. I stand firmly for a democratic Sierra Leone, where citizens can freely express their views, challenge authority, and demand accountability. I strongly oppose any attempt to use the guise of counterterrorism to silence political opposition, civil society, and the media. I urge Parliament to halt the passage of this draconian law and to prioritize a more inclusive and transparent approach to governance. A government that is truly committed to the welfare of its citizens must respect their fundamental rights and freedoms rather than imposing restrictive laws to control them. This law is not just an attack on democracy; it is an attack on the very principles that Sierra Leoneans have fought to uphold for decades. It is time to reclaim our country’s democratic values and ensure that we do not allow any government to stifle the voices of the people. I call on all citizens, political leaders, civil society organizations, and the international community to stand together in opposing this Counterterrorism Act 2024. We must protect our freedoms and safeguard the future of Sierra Leone by ensuring that the laws passed in our Parliament serve to protect the interests of the people, not to serve the interests of the few in power. Let us remember that a democracy is only as strong as the freedom of its people to speak truth to power. It is time for accountability, transparency, and the protection of our civil rights. #SierraLeone @clerkPOSL @ecowas_cedeao @UKinSierraLeone @USEmbFreetown @EUinSierraLeone @NDI @Presidency_SL @SLAJ_Salone @slajpresident #SaloneX

@AlphajorbaBah @realDonaldTrump Politics as usual is no longer the norm. With shifting ideologies, social media’s influence, and an increasingly polarized world, the way decisions are made and the voices that matter are rapidly changing. The landscape has evolved—we Africans must be ready for it.
