About 1,5 years ago we got a video from this 🇨🇳 DMV registration station for NEVs, only consisting of Teslas. Today Tesla is still dominating, but more and more competitors are in between the M3 and MY. Let us see what it will look like 3 years down the road.

Looks like China is going way faster through this Covid wave than everybody expected. The greater Shanghai area was predicted to peak mid-January, but now it looks like the peak is already behind us. First recovered people are also returning to work everywhere.

Fun Fact: When registering your vehicle in China they must check your engine compartment….so they ask you to open the frunk and the guy is than pretending to check it, as their are cameras all around to monitor his work. 🤣

While the US is boosting Plug-In-Idiot-Vehicles, China will raise the minimum electric range to >100km at 80km/h to qualify for a free and unlimited license plate. This is the way to boost real BEV sales and get rid of this engineering absurdity.

I just had a test drive with the ET7 in China, incredible car. Rides perfectly with full specs including ventilated seats for all passengers and an incredible sound system. Comparing it to the EQE, Nio is the clear winner.

Little know fact outside China: The platform on which the ID’s are based is not fully compatible with the Chinese charging protocols. Especially charging at StateGrid is a huge problem and they are running 99% of all highway service station chargers. Also no OTA in China.

Did a test drive yesterday with the XPeng X9. What a brilliant MPV! Nimble thanks to rear-steering and incredible well interior quality.
For the ADAS, it’s impressive but clearly aimed at slow and safe. Which I prefer.
My Model Y now feels like a 10 years old car. 🥲

I’ve seen so many companies setting up a production side in India, just to come back to China after 2-3 years with a bag full of unbelievable stories covering corruption, impossible logistics and a labour force which only consists of extremely educated and no education at all.

Here in China I rarely use superchargers as the public ones are widely available. However, it gives you peace of mind to have a second network to rely on. Furthermore, superchargers are mostly situated inside high-class malls and hotels, giving them a special feeling of quality.

The Chinese government has already decided to get rid of human drivers in the foreseeable future. The first goal is to have 50% of all traffic on highways automated by 2025. I predict by 2030 you won´t get a license plate anymore for cars without these capabilities.

It’s seems to be less new ones at the end of the year, but I have seen several older chargers being fitted with ground locks and V3 charging guns (not sure if also updated the power). Seems like

My Model Y during 2 years of ownership, 18.000 km, has cost me about 550¥ (75$) in maintenance. Which consists of 150¥ (20$) for tire rotation and 400¥ (55$) for windshield washer fluid. Make sure you can afford the high cost of washer fluid before considering buying a

Had 3 visitors from India in 🇩🇪, after touring the factory they wanted to go to a brothel. We took them. After a lot of looking, all decided for the same blond, 2 heads taller and about 20 years older prostitute. All three in a row, less than 20 minutes.
Became good customers.

LiAuto used a 🇩🇪 ZF drive train. Nio was a 🇩🇪 Bosch customer for motors. Both are developing their own components now.
Even 🇺🇸 Rivian is transitioning away from Bosch.
What’s left? Power-Steering, basic ADAS (which 🇨🇳 trying to get rid of ASAP) and combustion engine parts.
