@GaddersII Here in Switzerland they still do traditional ones with pictures of fairies, and toy trains, and a nativity scene on the 24th. I send one to my sister every year. She's 51. It's not Christmas without a proper Advent Calendar. The children know. 🥰.

A 90 year old man has just knocked on my door. He worked on this farm when he was a child over 80 years ago and wanted to see what it was like now. Very different, he said. He was so excited to be back here, reminiscing about scything the steep slopes - back-breaking, he said.

@DaveAtherton20 It's a problem in other countries too. An elderly tourist with NO health insurance on a coach trip through Switzerland, had a heart attack whilst here about 5 years ago. He was treated and spent 6 weeks in hospital at a cost of over 100k chf. Ok, so he didn't come especially to.

@RupertLowe10 Tents on Salisbury Plain under military guard would do the trick. If a tent in Calais was good enough for months, human rights lawyers cannot surely argue it isn't good enough here while the gov assesses their 'refugee' claims. It would be a deterrent, save costs, and restore.

@jones_mog I can only dream. My dad did that, and then started working for another company four days a week so he could keep his mother in a wonderful nursing home. She died at 95, he worked his socks off for her. Bless him.
