The

urgently needs to engage directly & deeply with the hundreds of crew people their actions have thrust into the middle of this conflict & put out of work. Resentment is broad & growing quickly. Your doing deep damage to many who can least afford it.
We maintain a healthy strike fund to help WGA members times of need. A great way for the public to support our fight for a fair contract is to donate to the broader entertainment community impacted by our collective action.

It’s incredibly specific to Chicago radio, which has always been strangely frozen in time. They nailed the soundtrack to living there. That music is just in the ether in that city.
The thing people actually love most about NOMADLAND is the way in which it absolves them of any responsibility for the issues it purports to explore. Remember, kids: homelessness is a lifestyle choice and

is an enabler of rugged individualism. Order away!
Even as many have praised 'Nomadland' for its authentic depiction of temp workers, others have said it glosses over the harsher realities of the modern gig economy.
But that's not all:
@EmpireCityBO
But also, the absolute lack of self-awareness that goes into taking jobs from half a million *actually employed* workers because you like the taco trucks - it’s utterly indefensible. Sorkin was right. There needs to be a reckoning. The gall of the self-centered
#WGA
insanity.

Here’s some real villain shit: Leveraging the labor and livelihoods of *other workers* in an effort to enrich yourself while utilizing tactics that only enrich the billionaires you purport to oppose. Not the heroic blow for labor you’d like to believe it is. But hey, go off.

She’s thinking of her crew members, who are in an even worse boat and have no dog in this fight. But you guys are just fine trading on their livelihoods in an effort to better yourselves. Look in a goddamn mirror.
As
@WGAEast
@WGAWest
celebrates their tentative deal, let’s hope they reflect on the 500K+ *actual workers* who won their gains - and whose labor and livelihoods the
#WGA
exploited and leveraged to enrich themselves. The
#WGA
did nothing. These workers did it for them.
@JustineBateman

Whatever gets you through the night. Trading on the labor and livelihoods of *other workers* in an effort to enrich yourselves is not the heroic blow for labor you’d like to believe it is.
Also, never underestimate the value of a simple and humble "thank you." Even if all someone does is reply to your tweets. A person's time is the most valuable gift they can give you. Respect it.

I just got THAT email from my landlord… rent is past due and something needs to happen or tenancy can be terminated.
My day job is post production. I haven’t worked since the strike. Every day I hear more people are laid off. I apply to every job I see.
I think I need help.
Glad to see that the historic deal the DGA got five months ago - without a day on strike - is now also considered “exceptional” by

Congrats to all!
@anticapitalizm
Trying to better yourself by leveraging the labor and livelihoods of *other workers outside of your guild* is the most loser shit imaginable. genuinely can't wrap my mind around being so myopic and self-centered. like have some fucking self respect my god.
@LoganKenny1
My favorite thing about this website is the way it empowers so many people who know fuck all about what they’re talking about to feel 100% positive that they are superior to every other human being on Earth because they’ve Formed An Opinion.
@youryurigoddess
The WGA strike *tactics* are absolutely the source of the problem and if you can’t see the issue in trading on *other workers’* labor and livelihoods in an effort to enrich yourselves, you’ve said the quiet part out loud. I hope SAG and IATSE set up lines in your writer rooms.

@nick_mucci7

They won’t be able to. The other major issue is that this strike has been a step *up* for so many unemployed writers. There’s no incentive for them to end it. Their life goes back to *normal* when it’s over.
@mattzollerseitz
Peter Jackson used a version of this exact technology on his Beatles series but it’s weird that no one is losing their shit about him re-framing the original camera ops.
@robsforman
@mollylevinson
most disturbing "W.B.D. has found benefit to the strikes: u spend less money when you aren’t making anything. Gunnar Wiedenfels, the C.F.O., announced in August, “Should the strikes run through the end of the year, expect several hundred million dollars of upside to cash flow.”
It’s also completely apparent that you don’t fully understand the ramifications of your actions on crews and the ways in which they’re stuck in the middle and can’t speak out. Decisions on whether to cross are being left to individuals. It’s excruciatingly stressful and damaging.
This should be required reading for every member of the
#WGA
. Ideally, they should send it out as a small, printed leaflet with a mirror affixed to the back.

@ScriptsByJames
Utterly pathetic and morally indefensible. Cool that you think it’s OK to try to enrich yourself by leveraging the labor and livelihoods of other *actual workers* when whatever contract you win won’t even affect you. Just A+ garbage human behavior. Invest in a goddamn mirror.
@ScriptsByJames
This strike is being driven by people who… checks notes… aren’t even employed. Sorkin was right. Striking is a *step up* for 90% of the guild, who don’t work anyway. And they think it’s just fine to hold other *actual workers* hostage while they hang out at their taco trucks.
@joshuarolson
Oh look. A BTL-hating WGA writer pretending he’s not trying to enrich himself by trading on the labor and livelihoods of *other workers* using tactics that only increase the wealth of the billionaires he purports to oppose. How original.
