SO, some news...
I landed my first TV writing gig on a yet-to-be-announced Disney show.
Yesterday was my first day in the writers’ room.
I used to race home from school to watch Disney Channel and now I’m helping MAKE one of their shows.
I’m... 😭 LITERAL DREAM COME TRUE
Good morning.
Jimmy Kimmel deciding to be the main character and literally making Quinta step over him to get her Emmy & then *staying* in her space during her speech (for a bit that wasn’t even funny) is a worse look than what Will Smith did, but won’t get discussed as so.
Netflix does not give any residuals to South Korean actors for their shows. Supporting actors’ pay for these Netflix shows start at $300 per episode
The president of Korea’s Actors Union has sent several messages to Netflix and got no response.

“Everything changed with streaming and everyone should be compensated for their work. It’s fucking easy.”
*That’s* the quote to take from this.
And she’s 100000% right. Queen shit.
There’s big “fuck you” energy coming from the Democrats towards the right and tbh it’s dope as shit and will be a big reason we win
You don’t play nice with folks who wanna take your rights away. Fuck them.
You know what, the NHL has the most fun with their champion/trophy and it’s not remotely close.
The Panthers won the cup 2 days ago and it has since drank beer, poured beer, been to bars, restaurants, seen the beach and is now feeding Italian cuisine.
NHL got this shit on lock.
Nuance, to me, is
1) Being thrilled to see a Black Woman on her way to POTUS
2) Being disgusted by the overall lackluster efforts towards liberating Palestinians
3) Recognizing the stakes for women, LGBTQ+, children, POC, etc if we don’t vote
Vote. But stay loud & demanding.
I want TV back, man. Like BACK BACK.
I want shows with 15-22 episodes back. I want shows with 6 seasons back.
I want shows with appointment viewing back. I want shows where we get to watch the characters grow. With real arcs. I want theme songs.
I want the TV experience back.
“But Quinta said she didn’t mind.”
1) When she got to the stage she literally said “Jimmy get up, I won.” She went along with his dumb bit to politely ask him to move.
2) Yes, because women (ESPECIALLY BLACK WOMEN) displaying any hint of frustration is *always* well received 🙄
over eager rookie cop:
“found em here, detective, looks like a robbery gone bad”
“well, they never go good, do they? anyone see anything?”
“No one saw or heard. It’s like our killer appeared out of thin air”
“Maybe so, but now, *glasses on*, they’re on thin ice”
YEEAHHHHHHHHH
I struggle with speaking proudly about my accomplishments out of fear of sounding boastful.
But celebrate the wins, man.
Currently sitting *first class* on my way to Cali. Tomorrow I move into my apartment in LA. All thanks to my first TV writing job.
So, uh, yeah. I did that.
“Squid Game” increased the value of Netflix by an estimated $900 million.
It also made South Korean writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk famous — but not rich.
In his contract, he had forfeited all intellectual property rights and received no residuals.
It’s still so funny to me that screenwriting Twitter has drama. The same folks who can write a script where nothing happens for 30 pages suddenly know how to create conflict on here 💀
NOBODY trims trees in the summer.
NOBODY eliminates the few sources of shade when it’s 90+ degrees out.
The studios keep playing victim while making sure the folks they *already* make suffer, suffer even more.
Again, NONE of this should be forgotten even once there is a deal

Combat hate by rooting out stereotypes and empowering the voices & stories of underrepresented folks.
Question for anyone who writes or watches TV:
What are some examples of GREAT characters who were introduced BEYOND the first season?
Could be a new love interest, rival, villain, arch nemesis, suspect, family member.
But their arrival CHANGED the entire show for the better.
If you picketed. If you donated. If you retweeted/reposted voices, messages, links. If you dropped off water, food, supplies. If you drove by and honked. If you reached out to check on us. If you’re a worker who’s since went on strike. If you supported.
This is your win, too.
THE MIAMI FUCKING HEAT ARE 20-13 GOING INTO CHRISTMAS WITH JIMMY BUTLER AND BAM ADEBAYO MISSING HALF THE GAMES AND DIPO HASN’T PLAYED A GAME YET.
Kyle Lowry is a God. Tyler Herro is a star. And the Heat have the best scouting/development team and coach in the league.
Goodnight.
Y’all remember when 34 year old Dwyane Wade took over in crunch time in Charlotte down 3-2 in an elimination game and forced a game 7?
D-Wade is the third greatest SG ever and it’s not a debate.
Marvel Studios plans to make changes in how it makes TV following internal criticism.
• Shows will now have proper showrunners that write pilots & show bibles.
• A focus on multiseason serialized TV rather than limited series.

Y’all always shitting on the work people do. Either you talk down on essential workers like cooks, servers or cleaning staff, or you tell writers/actors to “get a real job”, or you think UPS drivers & teachers are overpaid.
Everybody overpaid except the CEOs who don’t do shit
I think this whole Nets experiment is the PERFECT example of why what Coach Spo did in the big 3 era is incredibly impressive and can’t just be written off as “he had LeBron.”
Coaching superstars is hard as hell.
Spo is an all time great coach.
The current state of TV has many writers, myself included, feeling a lot of ways about the industry.
So, a short, personal story.
I landed a dream gig last year. Writers’ assistant on my dream show. I promptly lost it when the show got canceled halfway through the room.
This morning I woke up and saw I got paid for the first time as a TV writer.
Some advice I got recently was to really enjoy the moment because things go up and down. So I’ll be coming back to this when the inevitable lows come, as a reminder.
But for now I’m just so happy, man.
TV and Film is fucking important.
Storytelling is important.
Representation is important.
All of this starts with fucking writers.
You don’t have shit without the script.
PAY. WRITERS. FAIRLY.
Y’all… Y’ALL 😭😭😭
A few years ago in college was when I realized my dream was to be a TV writer. Fast forward a few years later…
GUESS WHO DID THAT SHIT???
YA BOY’S FIRST WRITTEN BY ‼️‼️
And I’m just getting started 🙏🏾
Update: I AM IN LOS ANGELES.
In my apartment.
In LOS ANGELES.
.
.
.
Holy shit. I *live* in LA. Bruh 😭😭😭(Peep the mirror reflection, the Disney mask, and the LA snapback 🤷🏾♂️)
I’m so fucking proud to be a Heat fan.
The Heat have made the playoffs 21 of the 27 seasons since Pat Riley arrived.
They’ve been to 9 Eastern Conference Finals.
6 NBA Finals.
Won 3 NBA championships.
Only Spurs have more playoff berths in this time.
That’s

I’m officially 24 now...
My goal for 23 was make one big move towards my TV writing dream and, this year, I signed my first contract as a *TV writer.* (Hope I can talk about it soon lol)
Regardless, signing it was an insane feeling. Goal for 24 is more of that 🙏🏾
I fucking loved rooting for Victor Oladipo, man. He came here and played his ass of when he could and bounced back from each injury.
NEVER FORGET HIM ABSOLUTELY CLAMPING JAYLEN BROWN
S/O to Vic, man. Should always be welcomed in the Heat’s house.
Bam Adebayo in these Finals:
22/12/3 while guarding either Jokic, Murray or both on every trip.
Struggled w/efficiency but he showed up and gave everything on both ends against the best player in the world.
Still only 25 and he’s gonna get to another level. 13 a lifer for me.
This. Stop saying writers in Hollywood have no ideas.
Writers have more ideas than ever because of all the new voices that weren’t let in before.
Studios don’t wanna “chance” it with bold, daring, brilliant ideas.
Because they don’t care about stories they care about profits.
Guys you have no idea about the scripts I read. It’s my job. Heartbreaking dramas. Wildly funny comedies. Groundbreaking sci fi. Diverse voices. Amazing love stories. Biopics of fascinating people I’ve never heard of.
Almost none of them get made.
It’s not the writers.
I’m 25 today and last year I told myself that by 25 I wanted to be a step closer to my dreams.
Well, shit, 24 saw me get hired into my first writers’ room, write my first ever episode of TV, land a dope ass manager, and move to LA.
24 was amazing. I got more for 25 🙏🏾
Being a creative is brutal AF right now.
No new jobs, mass layoffs, cancellations.
If you’re still working on your scripts/novels, submitting auditions, directing reels, drawing, creating — S/O to you.
Shoutout to us for making art even when it’s hard. That’s what artists do.
Instead of focusing on the negatives, I found a thread of little Black girls watching the trailer for TLM for the first time, recorded by their parents, and it’s actually the best thing I’ve ever seen.
This one is my favorite.
Representation matters, y’all.
If you wrote a script this year, you won. If you auditioned for something, you won. If you finished a song or novel, you won. If you booked a gig, you won. If you did anything you loved and improved as a creative, you won.
Period. Show yourself some love.
Quinta is so smart, man.
Storytelling is never about giving the audience what you think they want or not doing what you worry they’ll hate.
That’s fan service.
Storytelling is about telling the story. And captivating & surprising your audience.
Quinta Brunson says she had a "strict no social media policy" for the

The Miami Heat are 41-21.
They just annihilated the second best team in the East.
They now have a 2 game lead on first place in the East.
They’re now 10-4 against the top 8 teams in the league.
And they’ll still get zero respect.
The Heat are best team in the East.
HOLY SHIT. Look at the second row. This is SAG-AFTRA’s proposal vs what the studios countered with.
“New Media Revenue Sharing.”
“Rejected.” No counter. Nothing.
Studios just told actors “fuck you.”
They really don’t give a shit about any of us. And what’s why we’re striking.
Here’s my 2022 kick off:
1) You’re not an aspiring writer, you’re a writer.
2) You don’t have to write EVERY DAY to be a writer.
3) Take that shot and ask someone you really admire to coffee.
4) Take a stab at that script you’ve always wanted to write.
5) Keep creating.
So far in the playoffs, when guarded by Bam Adebayo:
Joel Embiid - 11/29 (38%), 4 turnovers, 2 blocks
Trae Young - 2/8 (25%), 4 turnovers
Tyrese Maxey - 4/13 (31%), 1 turnover
John Collins - 1/8 (13%)
James Harden - 7/16 (44%), 5 turnovers
True DPOY 🔒
It’s so funny that Jimmy Butler left two poorly run organizations and everyone called him a locker room cancer and bad teammate, then gets to Miami and immediately succeeds. No scandals.
Coaches love him. Fans love him. Teammates love him.
He legit turned the franchise around.
If you’re a writer, actor, director, filmmaker, musician, artist or any other type of creative, this tweet is for you.
2024 is gonna be your year.
Happy New Year, y’all. Keep creating 🙏🏾
We are watching a genocide.
In REAL time.
And we are, simultaneously, being told we hate an entire group of people because we refuse to stand for an entire other group of people being mass fucking murdered.
I don’t believe this shit, man.
Palestinians deserve so much better.
The
#HeatCulture
jokes are flying and because I always gotta step up and ride for my squad...
Since Pat Riley got to Miami, only the Spurs have made the playoffs more times than the Heat. That’s it.
I still inject that culture into my veins 🤷🏾♂️
Since it’s seeming both strikes are over, I just wanna reiterate, with every fiber of my being…
FUCK YOU to any and everyone who told us writers, actors and any other industry workers to “get real jobs.”
Not only are our jobs real, this whole damn town runs off what we do.
