Anecdotally there's a lot of people who genuinely believed DEI was a good thing and have gotten mugged by reality. It's easy on the right to mock them but they do exist and they are very sincere in their views.

Actually in divorce whoever leaves the family residence loses some. I know couples going through divorce and they were both advised not to move out so they awkwardly shared the space while working everything out in court.
So her getting him to move out was a smart move.

It's a simple fact that real estate was cheaper then, and whenever I talk to older people about career it's crazy how much easier it was.
You don't get insanely wealthy from a decent career and owning a home you have no interest in selling.

The "non trad part" is a lot more trad than people think. In contrast to the haredis, yes they are secular. But still a lot more connected to religion than irreligious US Jews.
One example, nearly all fast yom Kippur. Which is about as much observance as many Christians have.

This is a bit misleading. Yes, grape juice ferments quickly and shelf stable commercial grape juice dates to the discovery of pasteurization. But, fresh grape juice has existed for thousands of years and is mentioned in ancient sources (usually as "young wine" or similar names)

It's also a cultural thing of if you make demands of guests. I was raised that you go out of your way to make guests feel welcome, almost to a fault. It would be utterly foreign to demand they remove their shoes and walk in their socks, even if that was my preference.
