"Bad boy with trauma gets healed by good girl with her love" isn't very progressive either, and by saying "hero gets the girl" ur undermining Katara (which u zutara stans always do), that hero gets the girl trope is a thing because the girl is a damsel in distress-
Zuko and Katara would've made more sense story-wise considering the progressive nature of the show. Hero gets the girl just wasn't it. It's creative writing 101 to not give your hero what he wanted at the beginning and have him grow to learn he didn't need it in the first place.
