When people say ‘I don’t mind what we do’ like they are being virtuous and easygoing whereas what I hear is ‘The only way we will be doing anything together is if you do all the planning and legwork.’
People on here claiming that Keir Starmer won’t connect with lost Labour voters bc he’s a ‘North London Lawyer’ and therefore somehow out-of-touch. He tipifies what’s possible for any kid with aspirations and education: Starmer’s childhood home on the left, Johnson’s on the right

I’ve been groped in public and been too shamed / embarrassed to say or do anything. If more people reacted like that waitress then maybe that sort of thing wouldn’t happen, to women OR men.
I feel like this is going to be a daily reminder: attacking

candidate(s) you don’t like damages the whole field because the mud sticks to the entire party. Focus on extolling the benefits of your preferred candidate(s) and leave the attacks to other parties.

Peter Kyle has been very open about the severity of his dyslexia and the challenges he faces as a result. As you should know, dyslexia affects information processing so it is bizarre and rather desperate to try and paint a punctuation error by a dyslexic as a major gaffe.

Another woman being punished for wanting children and young people to have holistic support and evidence-based medical care. Being a highly-respected paediatrician commissioned to conduct a review doesn’t save her from it. Her work will protect vulnerable children & YP though.

If you had taken the time to read the thread you would know that it also refers to contemporary atrocities. The fact that you didn’t take the time makes it look like you are using a genocide to try and score a cheap political point on Twitter. Grim.

@GreenPeterU
A thread full of people telling you why they aren’t voting Green and you are doing the digital equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and going ‘La la la can’t hear you’. Bit weird to ask a question if you aren’t going to hear the answers.
My husband got confirmation today that his cancer hasn’t spread and he doesn’t need any more treatment for the time being 🎉 Thank you to everyone who has been a support during his treatment and the sudden loss of his father -especially the excellent team at the Royal Berks ❤️NHS

That article is from 2017 so is out of date in 2024. The fact that you posted a screenshot rather than a link might make a cynical reader wonder if you are trying to obscure the fact that it’s seven years old.

All of my children attended Caversham Primary under Ruth’s leadership: my youngest is still there. I respected and appreciated her as a headteacher and really liked her as a human being. She was so strong and resourceful: the system that drove her to such despair is beyond brutal
I remember new parents on news reports agonising over whether it would be breaking the rules if they went to a park to introduce their newborn to a grandparent because that would be three people meeting, not two.
NEW: Downing Street staff and Boris Johnson pictured drinking wine in the No 10 garden last May when the rest of the country was limited to meeting just one other person socially outdoors.

What a terrible thing to say in response to a woman talking about the threats and harassment she is subjected to. Everyone deserves to live their lives free from threats and harassment, not just the people whose opinions you approve of.
I am a Caversham Primary parent with 14 years’ experience of the school and Ruth’s leadership of it. It is commendable that even in her grief Prof Waters is striving to reform the system that crushed Ruth’s spirit. I, and I am sure many other parents at the school, will be…
As many now know, Ruth Perry, sister of my friend Professor Julia Waters took her own life following the brutality of an Ofsted inspection at the Caversham Primary School of which she was headteacher.
This must never happen again. I stand with Julia in the following:

The Scottish Government overstepped. They don’t have the power to enact legislation that impacts people in the rest of the UK. If I were a cynical person I might suspect that Sturgeon did this on purpose to build support for Indy ref 2.

McLaughlin had a historical conviction for raping a child. McLaughlin had stalked Beverley Guenther and broken into her home. She had sought police and legal protection but was still stalked, raped and murdered. McLaughlin tried to get off the rape charge by claiming there was…
@LMinpregnancy
Language does matter in pregnancy so why aren’t you using inclusive and clear language? 99% of the people you are trying to reach will self-describe as women and mothers so those terms should be used along with ‘pregnant people’. Also are you looking for any obese new parents…
@OldRoberts953
One of my children had a primary school teacher who did the opposite: each child had to write something nice about every other child in class. She made them up into little books that they kept in their trays so they could look at them if they were feeling gloomy and needed a lift
@Ofstednews
I am a parent at Caversham Primary. Ofsted’s one-word verdict of a school that my children have attended for the last 14 years has in no way been useful and informative to me, crushed a fantastic, dedicated headteacher and will taint my youngest’s last years of primary school.

Begs the question- how many of ‘Laura’s’ tweets does he write? The adoring ‘Our Leader’ ones were excruciating enough coming from his wife but if he’s writing them himself... 😬
I have taken nearly 1k photos in Forbury Gardens. It’s where we gather to remember - our Jo Cox memorial was there, I was at a

@jessphillips
Their tweet has really missed the mark. Whenever anyone compliments me on something I’m wearing I tell them 1) which shop’s sale I bought it in, 2) how much it was discounted by, 3) whether it has pockets. I would be v impressed if that top really was £4.99.

I run a charity providing support and social activities for people living with sight loss in Reading. COIVID has been tough on us. Demand for our service is up, as is pressure on staff, income is down. This amount of money would secure our future and service until 2022.
@DeborahMeaden
I work for a charity to support parents of young children into work. The funding goes through the DWP and I am not allowed to work with people who are under-employed. Can’t even help someone on a zero hours contract who doesn’t currently have work - because they’re ‘employed’.
@RemainerNow
Remainer Now is such a great project. In the first months after the 2016 Ref I was angry with those who had voted leave. Following this account has turned that anger into respect and appreciation for those thoughtful enough to change their minds and brave enough to say so. Thanks

I'm a fiercely Remain Labour candidate in a Labour-Tory marginal Ward. Any vote for a minor party here will let the Tories in. The resulting damage to public services in my town is too high a price to pay: it's the sort of gesture voting that got us into this mess.
@LMinpregnancy
Your tweet above reads as though you don’t want to hear from pregnant mothers and do want to hear from new (male) fathers who are obese. If that’s the group you are targeting then fine, but if it isn’t then an account saying ‘language matters’ needs to make better language choice

Wow, Linda Riley! That’s a blast from the past. I wonder if her family still run the Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker Street. I was a museum attendant there for a while - the Polish staff taught us all a bit of Polish so we could warn each other when she was on site in a bad mood.

How well did you know Ruth? I knew her for 14 years & am a parent at the school. My husband attended the inquest. The coroner did not give any other factors that she believed contributed to Ruth’s death, everything she listed was about the inspection & rules imposed by Ofsted.
@HannahAlOthman
As someone in the quotes pointed out - he was clearly also graduating, why did he choose to disrupt her part of the ceremony instead of his own?

You were conversing in a thread with replies turned off, hence Sharon’s QT because she couldn’t reply. She was incorrect about who turned off the replies (it was ‘Speak Out Sister’, not you who turned them off) but you could have just explained that without calling her ‘crazy’

At primary school my brother got bored of writing the same thing for ‘what I did at the weekend’ so got imaginative. This was discovered at parents eve when his teacher asked how we fitted all the vehicles on our driveway & did we have any garden left now we had a swimming pool.

The red spots are their areas where planes can be hit but still be able to return to base, so there isn’t a need for extra reinforcement in those areas. The fact that no planes came back with hits in the blank areas makes it likely that hits in those areas are not survivable…

A pedestrian is five times more likely to be killed by a car striking them at 30mph than at 20mph and people living on residential streets in built up areas consistently call for speed to be limited outside their homes. I am happy to drive at 20mph in residential areas.

The reason what you did is mansplaining is that you decided it was appropriate for you to butt in and tell a woman (who you presumably don’t know) that She Is Doing Qs About Women Wrong. She didn’t ask for your opinion but you continue to try and force it on her. Mansplaining.

They are given a £30,000 a year taxpayer-funded budget to do just that. It’s a benefit in kind that comes furnished, not a home they have to furnish from scratch. £30,000 a year is a lot to spend on decorating a 4 bed flat. If they want to spend more it’s right that they pay.
@JANUSZCZAK
I am in no way a fan of Nadine Dorries but this is bizarre snobbery. Maybe she doesn’t keep her books in the loft conversion. Maybe she has a kindle. Maybe she uses the library. I love books and have hundreds of them but there is no innate virtue in that.

You don’t pay road tax. That tax was abolished in 1937. You are probably referring to Vehicle Excise Duty, which is a pollution tax, levied in proportion to how polluting your vehicle is. It goes into the general treasury fund and is not ringfenced for road repairs or building.
@LMinpregnancy
… or new mothers who are obese & other new parents who are post-partum & obese. Please ensure that whilst (rightly) striving to include the minority of females who give birth but reject the word ‘mother’ you aren’t excluding and alienating the maj, to whom the word is important.

@JamesNonchalant
@l4m3rx
Nope. The original tweeter is in the UK and in the UK roads are funded from general taxation, so a cyclist is paying the same as a driver. Polluting vehicles ARE required to pay Vehicle Excise Duty but EVs are exempt so drivers with electric cars pay the same as cyclists - £0

Thanks for posting this. I picked up a copy during a charity-shop Penguin browse but haven’t read it yet. Will bump it up my ‘to read’ list.

My husband pointed out that the Bidens will have to use a toilet that Trump used and now I can’t stop thinking about that and feeling bad for them.
And it goes without says that I completely reject Ofsted’s characterisation of leadership at the school. Ruth did a difficult and stressful job with grace, dedication and good humour. My children thrived under her leadership. I respected her as a professional & really liked her.
@oldvictheatre
You are wrong to remove women-only toilets. I am happy to share public toilet facilities with transwomen but I would not feel comfortable sharing with men. You can accommodate people who do not want toilet segregation by having separate male, female & gender neutral facilities.

How will the ULEZ dementors find cars in narrow passageways? Why aren’t they patrolling roads? Why is there a frantic woman with an alarm clock? Does the writer not realise that people go underground because there are trains there?!

People who think it’s ok to tell a mother to feed their baby in a toilet never explain what she’s supposed to do with her older children. Do they all cram in the cubicle together, or does she leave young children unattended while she takes the baby to the toilet?

It’s a term used to mock, dismiss and try and silence older women. Have a think about why that’s something you’re invested in doing.
All the people with red roses in their twitter handles arguing against voting for Keir Starmer as Labour leader are making me think I should make him my first preference.
Hi

When we talk about Dutch-style infrastructure we’re not talking about something inherent in their urban design. Dutch roads were once car-dominated, too but a deliberate decision was made to shift to streets for people. It took political will and it took nerve.

I fell down a twitter rabbit hole the other day where someone was saying that VAWG is all in our minds and we should speak therapy if we think men are more of a physical risk than women. I responded with a link to End VAWG & got the response: ‘Just admit you hate Transwomen!’
