My favourite thing about this is the fact that the nurse found a red pen to fully ensure the point was communicated effectively. When I worked on wards I was lucky to find a pen!

Absolutely love my job as a

. Phoned a pt earlier to check how she was getting on and she was so grateful that I had checked in and talked about how good she felt after her last appt with me. Nothing beats the feeling of knowing you’ve helped.

I would not be a nurse had I not received a bursary.I was a graduate when I started my nursing training so I’d already had a student loan.If the situation then was as it is now I would not be able to do my nurse training.
Just to be clear:
The Tories made nurses pay tuition fees in 2017, and THEY STILL ARE. That’s £27K.
The proposed bursary is ~40% LOWER than it was pre-2017.

Yes yes yes! I’m a smear taker and rather than tell people not to be embarrassed we need to work harder to understand WHY people don’t attend and what we can do to help them. There are lots of reasons people don’t attend, not just because they’re embarrassed!

Year 7 they showed us the bloody film of LOTF. It absolutely traumatised me and I had nightmares for weeks. We then had to study it at GCSE. Didn’t mind doing it at gcse but the film in year 7 was NOT good

Practice nurse here. Yesterday was one of the busiest days I’ve had in the 4yrs I’ve worked in GP. It was insanely busy but I am so grateful for the drs, nursing team and admin team who we’re all amazing and very supportive.

As an experienced ICU nurse I remember absolurely panicking not knowing what to do when my 8 month old baby had an allergic reaction and was unresponsive. I was down at my parents house and by myself. I just remember thinking “but ambulances are for emergencies”

I just didn’t know what to do. And I look back and think - 8 month old unresponsive baby??!! Hell yes you dial 999 for that!! But in that moment I couldn’t make that decision.

As a cervical screening sample taker I feel that, as health care professionals, we should be taking more responsibility to encourage women to attend rather than tell them that they should. There are a multitude of reasons women don’t attend smears, we need to recognise that.

Amazing feedback from pts yesterday from our first drive through flu clinic. Pts loved it but def more difficult for staff than traditional set up. With some changes though they could be brilliant. Is this the future of flu clinics?

My daughter had an anaphylactic reaction at 18 months. After adrenaline and steroids she was an absolute nutter. She ran around the room opening all the cupboards and wouldn’t stop eating. Although tbf that’s fairly standard behaviour of an 18 month old.

Tomorrow we are holding a cervical screening day. 7 clinicians, 100 patients booked in. We’ve worked incredibly hard to set this up and invite pts and I am so nervous about DNAs/last minute cancellations! Fingers and toes crossed that it is a great success!!!

if you are a driver you still need to be checking capillary bloods as the DVLA do not recognise libre as reliable enough. I’m pretty sure NICE guidelines will say you’re entitled to both. I’ll try and check

I moved from 9yrs ICU nursing to become a PN last year. Since then I’ve seen 2 patients I looked after, both of whom were incredibly unwell and we didn’t think would survive. So good to see how well they’re doing! I was quite emotional about it 😀
