Separated from my husband over the summer, moved out 4 months ago. Stayed at his house last night on a blow up bed in my sons room, with my daughters unicorn bedding. Very weird night but at least I can take part in

You were an absolute highlight for me. You spoke so eloquently and brought such balance to a day which could have been overrun with sentiment and platitudes. I am so sorry you have people giving you this abuse. I am so grateful for you contribution today - thank you
@ericabuist
This is the thing with racism - we just don’t hear enough about what middle class white men think about it. They’re the ones with the true understanding of the issue.
@rdaily
My favourite thing about this is the fact that the nurse found a red pen to fully ensure the point was communicated effectively. When I worked on wards I was lucky to find a pen!
Absolutely love my job as a
#practicenurse
. Phoned a pt earlier to check how she was getting on and she was so grateful that I had checked in and talked about how good she felt after her last appt with me. Nothing beats the feeling of knowing you’ve helped.
@WeGPNs
@thehistoryguy
This is incredible! I’ve been fascinated by the story of the Endurance since I watched the Kenneth Branagh drama 20yrs ago, and I was actually reading about it last night! I look forward to learning more about this discovery.
Possibly the thing I am most excited to give Elijah for his birthday! LOVE this t shirt

@phoenixcomicuk
My 5 yr old says ‘oof! Right in the kippers!’ Which also amuses me greatly.
I would not be a nurse had I not received a bursary.I was a graduate when I started my nursing training so I’d already had a student loan.If the situation then was as it is now I would not be able to do my nurse training.
Just to be clear:
The Tories made nurses pay tuition fees in 2017, and THEY STILL ARE. That’s £27K.
The proposed bursary is ~40% LOWER than it was pre-2017.
@SarahChampionMP
@JoTrust
Yes yes yes! I’m a smear taker and rather than tell people not to be embarrassed we need to work harder to understand WHY people don’t attend and what we can do to help them. There are lots of reasons people don’t attend, not just because they’re embarrassed!
@Captain_Kaycee
I’m sorry you’re getting horrible comments. I’m a 38yr old female in the U.K. who has talked for years about trying out archery. You have inspired me to look up local clubs and try it out. So thank you for posting 😀😀
@jamiesmart
@Natt
Year 7 they showed us the bloody film of LOTF. It absolutely traumatised me and I had nightmares for weeks. We then had to study it at GCSE. Didn’t mind doing it at gcse but the film in year 7 was NOT good

Practice nurse here. Yesterday was one of the busiest days I’ve had in the 4yrs I’ve worked in GP. It was insanely busy but I am so grateful for the drs, nursing team and admin team who we’re all amazing and very supportive.
@DrLindaDykes
@DoctorChrisVT
As an experienced ICU nurse I remember absolurely panicking not knowing what to do when my 8 month old baby had an allergic reaction and was unresponsive. I was down at my parents house and by myself. I just remember thinking “but ambulances are for emergencies”
@DrLindaDykes
@DoctorChrisVT
I just didn’t know what to do. And I look back and think - 8 month old unresponsive baby??!! Hell yes you dial 999 for that!! But in that moment I couldn’t make that decision.
@drkathrynmannix
At one point yesterday Sophie Raworth said something about the ‘unexpected death’. I suspect it was more a clumsy choice of words than anything else but bloody hell - a 96 year old with clearly declining health?! That is not unexpected!
@PHE_uk
@SarahBland55
As a cervical screening sample taker I feel that, as health care professionals, we should be taking more responsibility to encourage women to attend rather than tell them that they should. There are a multitude of reasons women don’t attend smears, we need to recognise that.
@AshleyGWinter
@jtrebach
I’m a practice nurse - once suggested vaginal oestrogen for a pt, sorted out a prescription. She came back with a box of chocolates for me! Said it was life changing!
@doctor__laura
I keep writing things and deleting as it never seems right, so please just know how glad I am to read your tweets. You are important. You matter xxxxxxxx
Amazing feedback from pts yesterday from our first drive through flu clinic. Pts loved it but def more difficult for staff than traditional set up. With some changes though they could be brilliant. Is this the future of flu clinics?

@drcmday
Goodness me. How frightening for everyone involved. I hope people are ok.
I had a pt shout at me down the phone yesterday - I was doing an extra, non urgent telecon to try and help out. I was in tears afterwards and shaking.

@KathyBurke
I was scratched by the neighbours cat when I was little. They said they’d put magic cream on, which I thought sounded pretty good so withheld my whinging for a short time. They then produced Savlon. Where the fuck was the magic cream??!!
@BoothsCountry
Amazing!Also, a massive thank you to

Lancaster this AM - I’m a nurse and went to the nhs hour and it was always your staff were absolutely lovely and amazing.Good work booths!

@drphiliplee1
My daughter had an anaphylactic reaction at 18 months. After adrenaline and steroids she was an absolute nutter. She ran around the room opening all the cupboards and wouldn’t stop eating. Although tbf that’s fairly standard behaviour of an 18 month old.
@DrBenLovell
Oh I’ve got one but it’s relatives. Pt in ICU who has been doubly incontinent on the sofa at his house prior to admission. Relatives wanting me to arrange for the sofa to be removed 🤷🏻♀️
Ahh had the best evening with

I moved into practice nursing last year after 9yrs in ICU. It’s been a huge learning curve, my knowledge and skills have increased hugely. Definitely not deskilled - just different skills!
NOT your typical study day but I am loving the motivational interviewing study day with
@etaltraining
Wondering if I can use it to get my 7 yr old to flush the loo after he has used it!
@liambarker
THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS FOAM.
I work in general practice and have to learn about hoists every year. We don’t own a hoist is any of our practices.
Highly recommend the short webinars from
@thisismichaela
- I’ve learnt so much about AF in the last 2 days!! I have ideas now about doing an AF detection week at work...
#practicenursing
@Blisscharity
Very disappointed by this move. Infant formula absolutely has a place for prem babies if breast milk is unavailable, but their sponsorship of a charity who is supposed to represent what is best for babies is completely unethical.
What a day! Hugely successful flu clinic today for
@LancasterMedics
and
@QueenSqSurgery
. Amazing turnout, happy pts and one very tired nurse over here! So proud of what we have achieved at these crazy covid times .
As as being a Practice Nurse and
#cervicalscreening
sample taker I am also a woman and therefore today I was on the other side being a patient! Over and done with in less than 10mins and not painful. Please attend yours smears if you can!
@jotrust
Reach out to parents who won’t engage in the vaccination programme - answer their questions, don’t make them feel stupid. What can we do to repair their belief in vaccination? We need to ask them!

I had this phone and loved it (at the time!). Texting was fine once you got used to it - it took me ages to get back to normal when I went back to normal keypad 😂
Tomorrow we are holding a cervical screening day. 7 clinicians, 100 patients booked in. We’ve worked incredibly hard to set this up and invite pts and I am so nervous about DNAs/last minute cancellations! Fingers and toes crossed that it is a great success!!!

Agreed. My first smear, aged 21, the nurse was so unfriendly and didn’t give me anything to cover myself up with which really upset me. I’ve promised to do my best to never make anyone feel like that.
@aplayfulday
Honestly, I know this is awful but sometimes I need to retreat into my bubble, for my own sanity. Awful news stories make my anxiety worse so sometimes, for self preservation, I have to avoid the news, social media etc.
Really interested in utilising social media more in practice, to help pts get to know the practice team better and show what different roles we have. I’m sure it’s been done before -
@WeGPNs
@AnnGregoryRN
@NHSDigital
@nursehelenc
any ideas?

I absolutely agree. Yes it was a joke but given the state of the relationship between the U.K. and the rest of Europe, insinuating that you can’t be bothered to learn the difference between 2 languages is bloody embarrassing and disrespectful
Spotted today in
@BoothsCountry
Lancaster. Alerted a member of staff that it is illegal to reduce stage 1 infant formula. Hopefully these will be removed
@babymilkaction
Had 61 patients on my screen to triage this am. Receptionist sent message asking me to prioritise one “he said it wasn’t urgent,but something not quite right”. Probably saved his life. GP reception staff are amazing.

WRONG!!!
if you are a driver you still need to be checking capillary bloods as the DVLA do not recognise libre as reliable enough. I’m pretty sure NICE guidelines will say you’re entitled to both. I’ll try and check
@johnneh
I stand by my previous comment - your Mum is the high priestess of travel nursing! I use her website all the time (have done today) and am in awe of her knowledge. A very very well deserved MBE!!
@allisonpearson
I’m a Practice Nurse so have worked throughout the pandemic seeing patients. If we are closed then I’m not sure who I’ve been seeing all these months! Unless it’s a Truman Show type thing?!
I’m reading the wonderful Highland Falcon Thief by

to Martha (7). She was OUTRAGED by this line! Initially she thought it was just in the book but when I said I thought it was true she was very cross!
@drphiliplee1
From a primary care point of view I am astounded people to live 40yrs + and yet apparently be unaware that you need to check in and not just sit down and wait to be seen!
Really excited about

I moved from 9yrs ICU nursing to become a PN last year. Since then I’ve seen 2 patients I looked after, both of whom were incredibly unwell and we didn’t think would survive. So good to see how well they’re doing! I was quite emotional about it 😀
@admit_medics
Likewise my mum told me if I played with my belly button my insides would fall out. When I was pregnant and my belly button popped out I was VERY concerned my internal organs would become external ones
Emmi creates the most incredible works of art and now she has these awesome stickers too 😀. I have the flower lungs and flower heart already but I can’t resist the little kidneys!!
Massive thank you to
