Uber/DoorDash rely upon VC money to fund attractive initial deals to new drivers to keep a constant flow of new drivers into the system as existing drivers realize it’s scam and move on.
They would go bankrupt without external funding.

A reminder that Muni fare inspectors are not peace officers. They cannot detain you nor prevent you from leaving a Muni vehicle or station. You have no obligation to provide them with any personal details. They can only detain you if an SFPD or BART police officer is present.
Officials at SFMTA believe that nearly 21% of people who board Muni buses and trains aren’t paying a fare.
Now they’re planning to double the number of fare inspectors to try to reverse the rise in fare evasion.
