"To stop the advance of the tank column, the decision was to blow up the Henichesk bridge. The engineer Skakun Vitaliy volunteered to perform this task. He mined the brdige but couldn't leave and blew it up together with himself." The unit successfully redeployed - Land Forces
34 years ago today, August 29, Abdul Ahad Mohmand became the first (and only) Afghan to travel into space.
Mohmand, along with fellow Soyuz TM-6 crew members returned to earth after spending 9 days on the Mir space station. 1/2

A Pakistani journalist roams across Afghanistan
Afghans: OCCUPATION!!!!!
Qatari forces and staff arrive to maintain security at the airport
Afghans: OCCUPATION!!!!!
US and NATO allies bomb ordinary civilians
Afghans: Afghanistan is free!!!!!
He's graduated with a degree in engineering from Khost University, but had to bear arms due to the unfortunate circumstances he was put in. There are many such stories, but we pretend as if we don't know. Credit goes to

If my grandfather — may his soul rest in peace — was alive today, he would have been aghast to see this happening. Here are some pictures of his as Chancellor of Kabul Medical University; the first doctor to establish urological services and endoscopic surgery in Afghanistan
"On this day in 1842, an exhausted army surgeon named William Brydon arrives in Jalalabad, Afghanistan with news that an entire British army has been wiped out at Gandamak. The moment is later immortalized in this painting by Lady Butler."
Breaking News: President Biden is moving to split $7 billion in frozen Afghan central bank assets between 9/11 victims’ families and humanitarian aid in Afghanistan. The highly unusual set of moves is expected to be announced on Friday.
The fact that a Talib policeman sacrificed his life to neutralize/reduce loss of Sikh lives in today's heinous attack inside a Gurdwara carried by ISKP is what Afghan brotherhood, irrespective of any particular creed, has always been about.
So apparently it wasn't a problem when your Abaa gave a green light to the US and NATO-allies to invade Afghanistan, but now when foreigners are interested in doing tourism, it's somehow a big deal for you.
I don’t know what’s going on in the Afghanistan Embassy in London but their giving out visa’s to every Ahmad & Mahmoud looking to go viral. The Taliban are loving it because Brit’s hanging out with them gives them “validation”. First it was Mo Begg, then Ridely and now this guy.

TEA WITH THE TALIBAN! Im in Afghanistan, walked into Taliban residency by accident and after talking they gave me food, tea and even offered for me to stay the night. They are so kind!
Many Pakistani nationalists turned a blind eye to their military’s killing of innocent civilians in Afghanistan. What else is to be expected when the youth of the country is indoctrinated by subjects such as “Pak Studies” that their military is a holy entity that defends Islam?
I don't know which Afghanistan you guys are talking about, but how many genocides are actually going on there? I've never seen a single Pashtun to come up and claim they're being ethnicly cleansed when the US was bombarding them for 20 years.
Not while ago, it was white Europeans who were fighting over tissue rolls to clean up their asses and now they're having the audacity to tell the world who's civilized and who's not. Give me a break!
BREAKING: the Taliban seniors are going to meet some vikings seniors in Norway and will talk about making an inclusive government with them, as per a viking tribe elder.
It was the same fallacious and dangerous thinking that lead to massacre of rural villagers by NATO allies. The reason people are still reinforcing the exact same narrative is that they have, after all these years, learned nothing. Pathetic!
@Mr_Andrew_Fox
@ElegantiaeArbit
Two Master’s degree without being able to understand a single tongue the commoners spoke in Afghanistan. No wonder you guys ended up being humiliated in the worst possible way.
Now I understand why Haibatullah Akhundzadah never discloses his whereabouts in Kandahar or hasn’t made a public appearance since their takeover of Afghanistan.
At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if the Afghan diaspora takes side with Europe's far-right over their shared jubilation of Imran Khan's dismissal.
I've never asked you for a favor, but today I'm earnestly asking you to make
#EndAfghanStarvation
trending if you care about the people of Afghanistan.
@EndAfghanStarve
It's been 4 days since girls in Afghanistan haven't been able to go to school. Are we pretending as if it's not a big deal or has the world stopped caring?
Afghan nationalists are some of the most confused people. They claim that Afghanistan is occupied by Pakistan, while simultaneously support Tahrik-Taliban Pakistan — ideological twins of Afghan Taliban — over which Pakistan itself doesn't seem have any leverage.
When I emphasis that Western reporters should understand bare minimum Pashto/Dari, this is what I mean. Domestic violence was endemic in a society like Afg irrespective of T, given the misogyny and effect war has had on human psyche. Yet the poor communication is noticeable. 1/n
Growing up in Kabul, I'd always heard about the warm breads of 'Silo' by my dad who lived in Khushal Khan. Today after 30 years of being out of or service, it's once again totally functional. This will help create job opportunities for many in the city.
1000 Afghan lives have been lost in Paktia/Khost due to a natural disaster, yet there's no operational health facilities in those regions. 20 years of nation-building & 3 trillion dollars got funneled in the country just to make a bunch of skating ramps to signify "progress".
I don’t think many people are aware of the astonishing fact that the last emir of the Uzbek Manghit dynasty was given refugee by Ammanullah in the aftermath of the Soviet bombardment of Bukhara and was even laid to rest in Shuhadai Saliheen (a graveyard for the martyrs) of Kabul
Twitter is the only place where your mutuals are wonderful authors, PhDs, journalists, politicians, musicians, creative Afghans from all across the world and some great landaghars. It's been truly a blessing 🙏🏾
I, as a native Farsi speaker, can tell you that Omeri doesn't understand Pashto at all. He's saying that elderly people are enrolling themselves in language courses to learn English, since the occupation has ended and we should rather focus on the economy before building mosques.
First it was Keramuddin and now they've been trying to add Dostum to their ranks. All one has to ask oneself is whether it's a resistance front or a rapist front?
Inviting drug traffickers, war criminals and corrupt-to-the-core politicians who are responsible for the downfall of the republic to talk about the future roadmap of the country is what the “nation building” hoax was all about.
You lot live in a Twitter bubble which is far too hysterical than living in a Kabul bubble.
On a side note: when people back home, whose only concern is to get their salaries and have a functioning economy, see such tweets, they think the diaspora is a bunch of lunatics.
Why would you nag about getting rejected by UN when you (1) aren't slightly concerned about Afghans starving back home and (2) advocate for more bloodshed inside Afghanistan?
Ahmad Massoud to BHL: “Bernard Jan, when is Israel going to support us in our holy cause?”
BHL: “Just keep eating fresh angor bachem and listen to some nice dambura songs, your time will come for sure!”
So, it was not enough, for

It's one of hardest moments to bear your uncle's coffin to his grave. May Allah grant him the highest ranks of Jannah. Please remember him in your prayers.
Listen to this old derwish in Ghazni and what he has to ethnic supremacists. In his words: "people normally butcher cows on Eid, but I saw my children being butchered in the same way. When will this bloodshed end?"
For the last 20 year, we had either biased journalists like Habib Khan, or self-proclaimed 'Human Rights Activists' who contributed nothing productive, but instead perpetuated Churchillian-kind-of colonialist narrative of Afghanistan to the world, and keep doing so. Woe to us!
I'd rather have one Afghan ally like
@yvonneridley
, than thousand of white liberal-feminists whose activism for Aghans are nothing more than platitudinous statements.
Red hot day in
#Kandahar
Province, before distributing aid on outskirts of city we headed off to the remote villages in Spin Boldak … a community long forgotten & neglected by Kabul. 2000 children & not one has been formally educated.
@AlKhairUK
plans to change that.
On these days, you’re dearly missed my beloved grandfather. Served an entire nation – from being Zahir Shah‘s personal doctor to teaching Dr.Najib, Dr.Abdullah and a generation of doctors from all across Afghanistan – irrespective of their political and ethnic background.
From Kalakani's reign to the Taliban, every policy has been centered around women and their education. What have we learned exactly in these 100 years?
In Pashto, the word for stomach is "kheit" and when somebody habitually talks out of their stomach, people often time say that he/she has a PhD in "Kheitology". Far too many kheitologists nowadays.
@EmrooPhotos
thanks for reminding me about it!
Clarissa Ward kind of journalists are the very reason behind the ban on foreign news agencies by IEA. Remember when she was translating "Allah-u-Akbar" into death to America, thinking it wouldn't have any repercussions. So much for "impartial und unbiased" journalism.
Amongst those 500.000 refugees was my Uzbek great grandfather Hashim Shayeq who at the time was the last ambassador of Bukhara to Afghanistan. He fled the Soviet persecution and was given Afghan citizenship by Amanullah Khan and later on married the daughter of King’s 1st cousin.
Amanullah Khan was such a “Afghan nationalist” king that he accepted in 1925 alone 200.000 Tajik/Uzbek refugees. In total: 500.000 refugees were accepted inside AFG & were given fertile lands in the North by the King.
Tbh, I'm asking myself who are the actual videographers and how come we they've become so good all of a sudden, cause the cinematography is simply on another level. It doesn't make any sense! 🤔
My mother was raised in a matriarchal family amidst war; my grandmother was the breadwinner, who, infact, oversaw an entire branch of Afghanistan Bank untill recent and had been in Kabul alone all these years. She'd burst in laughter, if she heard the term "Mahram discount"!
State can conduct social policy through means other not policing. E.g, if Taliban want to encourage women not to travel alone, they can require the airlines & transportation companies to offer “mahram discount” to make it easier for women to travel with company if they so choose.
Overweight Black-American larping as a Zoroastrian Persian, Bengali guy larping as a Pashtun nationalist, Somali guy begging Tajiks to ethnically cleanse Pashtuns, Homosexual Afghan-American Pashtun Marxist who supports the Taliban…
You see the craziest folk on this app.
NRF supporters: Ahmad Massoud is clean and innocent, therfore he should not be associated with his corrupt uncles.
Also Ahmad Massoud: holds a joint sessions with the very same corrupt warlords who, along with Ghani's circle, are to be blamed for the collapse of the republic.
The leaders of the NRF live in European or Asian countries with their relatives, they didn’t have any logical plans 4 governance in 20 years & they still don't, their interests R in war
I call them warlords
Now they had an online conference, but without results & without a plan
