It is so exhausting to see Muslims criticised for everything in the UK. This advert literally encourages people to donate to charity. Muslim donors give more on average than other religious groups in the UK, both domestically and abroad. How is that a bad thing in any way?.

Just returning home from Dubai visiting my family. No income tax.Bins emptied every other day.Road sweepers everyday.Hardly any self service checkouts .People really friendly & service excellent . It’s a shame that our own governments don’t care about the UK & it’s own citizens.

I remember how much fuss and anger there was over Qatar banning alcohol during the World Cup. The Paris Olympics will now also impose a ban on alcoholic drinks across all venues and competitions. It just seems like the criticism is much more subdued this time round.

But the lack of consistency amongst the Taliban 'ideology' was clear because I was able to use the 'foreign passport' card to gain access to some places. I acknowledge that women in Afghanistan don't have that privilege.

And yet in such hard times, the people of Afghanistan have so much love to give. The hospitality is unmatched, with shopkeepers and restaurant owners always insisting on giving away things for free.

Women are not allowed to go to most parks or most attractions, they're not even allowed on hills where there's mosques. Most of the Taliban who wouldn't let me in these places would apologise profusely but firmly make it clear women weren't allowed.

I think the most obvious thing in Afghanistan is how much poverty there is. Lavish wedding halls line the streets of Kabul with beggars outside them, children selling plastic bags and disabled men working to provide for their families.

There are checkpoints everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Between every part of Kabul you go to, and towards any province, you will be stopped. They look inside your car, some are searched, and some, often the ones with women are left alone.

Kabul is much cleaner than when I last visited. Some of it is credited to the Republic, but other efforts have clearly been made by the current Government to clean up Kabul. New roads have been built and it doesn't smell as bad anymore!

Most of the time, the Taliban leave you alone but some can be harsh and aggressive. There is no consistency in their approach. The most danger I felt was from Amr-bel-Maroof - ultimately a form of religious and morality police who walk around in white lab coats like doctors.

+ and on those Happy Ramadan signs, it was literally paid for by private donors. You can pay and put in applications to hang signs like that. Whether it’s an Easter or Eid sign, if you want to do it, crowdfund // find a donor. But don’t criticise others for taking the initiative.

Electricity in Afghanistan can go off at any time, we learnt very quickly not to rely on it too much and I experienced my first and hopefully last earthquake! The Afghan people are very experienced in how to deal with natural disasters, which is incredibly sad in some ways.

I learnt so much, about myself, about the people I love and preconceptions I had and the privilege I have. That my foreign passport meant that I had the confidence to wear my hijab loosely or that I could talk back to the Taliban when they got mad at us without any repercussions.

Kabul is full of signs and graffiti - most used to be of art. Now they're covered up with Islamic quotes and religious reminders. Many on the women's hijab and its importance in Islam.

We’re all complicit in buying fast fashion, but as a Muslim you should not be promoting/encouraging the buying of clothes from Shein. Aside from overconsumption + waste, the amount of chemicals used in the making of these clothes contaminates water sources and harms ecosystems.

The people speak an Indo European language called Wakhi, now a mix of Farsi, Urdu and English. They loved that I was from Afghanistan and spoke to me in both Pashto and Farsi. Everyone in the village speaks at least two languages.

The Taliban has ordered beauty salons acoss Afghanistan to close within a month. The salons are usually female only and have their windows covered so customers cannot be seen from outside. This is yet another restriction being imposed over Afghan women.

My cousin just got accepted to study medicine in Afghanistan! She’s going to be studying in Kabul but is hoping to work after in Logar. Afghanistan’s fragile healthcare system always needs more female doctors. This is so important, not just for our family but also our community.

I watched the BBC Panorama documentary on SAS death squads in Afghanistan and I must say it was incredibly hard to watch. People were being killed in night raids, others shot dead in cold blood and children were verbally abused, all in the name of British and coalition troops.

The Taliban has claimed that they have taken control over 8 provinces so far. But Biden has said Afghans have “got to fight for themselves.”. More than 1000 people have been killed in fighting between the Taliban and the Govt forces this month.

I think the thing that upsets me most about Afghanistan is that at the end of the day, I get to log off and relax or go out and forget about it whilst spending time with my friends or family. But in Afghanistan, they don’t have that same privilege. They can’t switch off reality.

Afghanistan is a country that is deemed by the West to be safe. It goes to the extent that asylum seekers are rejected and sent back to a supposedly safe haven. And yet, countries like Germany and Holland are often keen to deport Afghan refugees.

In terms of their features, they look very diverse. They are ethnically Tajik, but all have different features. There’s also definitely an East Asian influence too, which doesn’t come surprising given the proximity of the village to the Afghan and Chinese borders.

While many of our friends in the GCC are excited about the UAE’s first man space , I would like to point out that Abdul Ahad Momand became the first Afghan & fourth Muslim to journey to outer space. He spent nine days aboard the Mir space station in 1988 - some 31 years ago

This year Imamat day falls during the month of Muharram and because it’s a period of mourning, the people of Hunza, celebrated early through a day of culture, spirituality, community, prayer and coming together through music and dancing.
