Excited to start my new role as Snr Partner Relations Manager @ Unity today! Looking forward to working with studios across all the platforms to create, build and find success at launch and beyond 😎
This tweet goes out to all the indie

devs who are making something unique, something that doesn’t have known IP associated with it, something that doesn’t involve shooting things, something fresh and new yet struggles to get funding behind it. Keep fighting the good fight 🙌
Oh good we’re having the argument where hardcore
#VR
gamers don’t get sick with free movement Vs. making experiences comfortable for all users again.
Just. Because. You. Don’t. Get. Sick. Doesn’t. Mean. Others. Won’t.
Shut. Up.
One of our B2B partners visited the HTC Vive Slough office and managed to take some comparison photos of the Vive XR Elite (PVT units, not final retail) alongside the Meta Quest Pro (I was going to do this next week but he beat me to it 😅)
BBC Countryfile is on with the

section. WTF is up with that frame rate? They should be able to capture and replay much better than that for TV, unless it is terrible perf in the 1st place? 🤔
To all the naysayers re:

. This week we signed our 3rd project of the year (18/19), hired a new designer, received amazing new hardware, confirmation of more hardware shipping, demoed our new experiences to delighted users, sold full solutions and had a lot of fun doing so
And my new friends on the Logitech Immersive Team have sent me a compatible K830, so I can finally check out Infinite Office and tracked keyboard support on Oculus Quest 2

Samsung stopping GearVR support and Google dropping Daydream VR support is a natural process of technology advances but the BBC closing their VR lab is a sad day but the learnings live on. What these three things do NOt mean though is “VR is dead”
“Pay only $3,000 to be listed in the Top 10 Most Innovative VR/AR Companies 2021” list!
I think you mean the Top 10 Companies Who Paid to be in This List list no?
VR[Sam]’s dead!
No he’s not, he’s resting… but! today is my last day at HTC Vive as Content Partnerships Lead on the Viveport team.
It’s been a great time this past year working to launch 100+
#VR
games & experiences on a new storefront alongside the Vive XR Elite hardware.
Oculus Stories, Google Spotlight, High Fidelity, Jaunt... all bailed on VR because of VC overhype, data analyst over-predictions, lack of rapid returns... find a workable, profitable sector and maximise. Slow and stable, the snail wins the race. Less sexy but whatever, we’re here
This is it. This is what we've been working towards since mid-2018. Today is a great day for the studio and am super proud of our lil team pulling this together to get here. Thank you to those who supported us on the way to enable us to reach another great platform milestone.
Any journalists looking for a positive

story can speak to me about how
@MakeRealVR
just had it’s best financial year ever in 10 yrs and 2017-18 is looking to beat that already, thanks to immersive technology adoption across all verticals
There’s a content team with a strategy behind this email ready to speak with

devs looking to bring their existing and new titles to HTC Vive XR Elite - hand/eye/face-tracked, passthrough and/or mixed reality especially interesting - get in touch content[at]viveport[dot]com
This is my VR account, I’m white & British but all I can say is
#BlackLivesMatter
everywhere and fuck racists, stop police brutality, protest is a right. You don’t need a headset to empathise and see this needs to change *now*
Am apparently 12th most influential person in

globally and have had dev kits for months but don’t know if am allowed to talk about the experience or not despite influencers posting stuff so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ here’s a VRelfie or two anyway
OK that was super, super crisp - amazing resolution and fine detail. And best of all the eye tracking worked with my glasses on still and very responsive.

Always saddens me when I see organisations paying over-the-top prices for 360º video being called VR, when they could have had something so much more immersive and impactful
📢 🧵After 9+ glorious years at
@MakeRealLtd
, today is my last official working day at the studio! I will be starting a very exciting new role within

early October but am sad to be leaving a now-30+ strong team of lovely, awesome, amazing people.
If you must do
#AmazonPrimeDay
, use to donate towards your favourite charity and use your savings to shop local, or just skip that and shop local completely instead
It’s bad enough people are starting to use
#XR
and calling it
#ExtendedReality
but now they’re labelling it as
#ER
It’s 𝑥R if anything as it’s a variable. Or we just stop confusing people further and stick to
#AR
or
#VR
?
Nope. Revoke my
#VR
card or whatever man but seriously, fuck off with yet more guns and up-close-and-personal killing in VR games. Do not want. (Yes I know it’s what the pancake gamers want and we have to hit mainstream somehow). <Insert Jurassic Park Jeff Goldblum quote here>
@ID_AA_Carmack
Would be great if auto-updates to apps happened and could be triggered by the mobile app when it says one is available rather than telling you do it in headset
Heads up VR... er, Headz! As part of the studio move in a few weeks, I'm going to be sorting through 5 years of VR hardware we've accumulated and selling a load off, so if you're looking to build up / complete / extend your VR hardware history shelves, keep yer peepers peeled
If your article about

includes a header image stock photo of someone wearing a cheap mobile headset with their hands outreached, as if interacting with something, you lose -10 Credibility Points.
We’ve got some new projects kicking off and are looking for 2x 3D artists and 2x Unity developers to join the remote studio team - freelance contract initially, likely lead to perm later this year
A number of people I show VR to were once interested but faded away in 2017-18 are amazed at standalone & that it doesn't have to be tethered to PC now... need more awareness to bring them back into the fold as they become super-engaged again. "I didn't realise *that's* VR now!"
I’m 40+, I have no idea who Billie Ellish is. Just heard one of her tracks. Lots of autotune. Appreciate need big names for VR IP but can Beat Saber (with no mods now) reach out to some proper classic OG electronica musicians please. I have money & want to play but so far… meh
5 years ago today I quit job in London working Testronic Labs/Zynga on San Francisco hours to escape city & join plucky little local team
@MakeRealVR
initially just to deliver a construction site training product. Luckily they let me run wild with

& haven’t been happier since
I’ve been asked why I don’t go to award ceremonies and it’s simply because I believe that the people directly involved with the creation of the experiences up for nominations should get the chance to reap the rewards of all their hard work rather than the senior management team🥂
8 years ago I tried HTC Vive for the 1st time at EGX Rezzed, and felt presence for the first time in VR. 8 years later, I’m the one giving the demos of the new toys
