I did my National Service in the Greek Army 10 years ago (mandatory in ๐ฌ๐ท for male citizens).
They were 12 wasted months. I gained absolutely nothing and has made no difference in my life.

I am an overseas doctor but I agree with Keir Starmer. The UK *should* have more home-trained NHS staff. I do not think.what he said was xenophobic in any way. It would be so much cheaper for the NHS to avoid visa fees etc when hiring people from abroad. EU FoM would also help.

Hospitals are now fuller, patients are waiting for longer in A+E and for electives.
Severe understaffing in every sector. Poor salaries, poor morale, poor service.

The priority for those who want to see next UK govt rejoin single market, invest in green economy, is to ensure neither of old hard-Brexit parties wins a majority of seats. Then a deal is possible, inc Labour policy on PR. Without that, Tories can be back on just 37% of the vote.
