My daughter was at a horse riding lesson and she was afraid. She eventually got on the horse and was so proud. The coach says “Now you can tell your mom you’re a real cowgirl!”.
My daughter totally lights up, looks over at me with a huge smile and wave and says “AHOY MATEY!”

When I got pregnant very unexpectedly (I was 21, so an adult, but in university, single and very not ready), two of my male friends bought me a brand new crib.
I was so touched. I still am when I think about it, 16 years later. They stuck around when my girl friends didn’t. ❤️

There's one mom in my homeschool group who really seems to "get it all done". She's the only one I know who really manages it all.
But you guys.. she's kind of nuts. Completely neurotic. Not pleasant to be around. Not fun, not relaxed. Zero flexibility. Is that the only way lol?

Total scam. I was double scammed because I was working full time, taking care of other peoples kids 🤦🏻♀️.

My two spontaneous labours were not less painful, but they were more manageable. My induction brought on steady contractions and it lasted SO long. My other other ones were gradual and fast, respectively- both easier to handle than steady and long.

I looooved my wedding dress. I bought it for $125 on Etsy - a vintage 1930’s party dress with a low back. The entire thing is beads and lace 😍.
Total gamble but it fit perfectly, no alterations! I found out I was pregnant 3 days before the wedding, but it still fit 😅.

I’m soooo tired of hearing that I’m supposed to create an individualized experience for every student. That is literally impossible to do with these resources.
I’m sorry but if that’s what parents want, they need to homeschool. School is like Costco - bulk teaching only 🤷🏻♀️.

I’ll never forget my doctor calling me one evening and telling me it was benign.
I was so relieved that I was almost sorrowful?? It was intense.
Well, within a month I was pregnant with my little daughter and I know, without a doubt, the Lord was working for her to be here.

After our second my husband really wasn’t sure he wanted more (he felt he was too old). I was also undecided, but didn’t feel settled. Then I had a cancer scare, a huge, growing lump in my breast. The docs sent me for emergency biopsies, etc, they were really thinking cancer. -

When my kid came home from school during Covid closures and I committed to homeschooling, I really grew as a parent. I saw how much I was missing/had missed with him and took full ownership. I stepped up in a lot of ways. And I was not uninvolved before, by any means -

I was chatting with an old friend and we were talking about our kids and their friend groups. She said the only thing that matters to her is that her daughter experiences diversity in her friend group..

Agreed. I'm a mom who still have to work part time. However, I can't relate to the moms who don't have to work, but just don't want to be with their kids that much. I think our society has really done a number on us for parents to feel that way.

My province has dozens and dozens of swimmable lakes with beaches - I’ve got 3 within 20 minutes of my house. We might have extreme winters, but this part is pretty amazing ❤️

The thing about easy kids is you often don't even know they're easy until you have a much more challenging one.. Because kids are still kids and come with challenges no matter what.
It's just one of those things we need to have grace about bc we don't know what we don't know.

I get that homesteading became trendy and it can be annoying to see it glorified as pretty content, but railing against it because they aren’t “real” homesteaders just makes you look like a proud jerk.

The “specialists” in the school system are specifically trained to feed back into the system. I’ve been a teacher for almost 14 years, I know it well.
I homeschool my own kids, that’s how well I know the system 😉.

I think the professional-alone-with-child discourse is yet another symptom of parents not feeling like they are ultimately responsible for their kids.
They say they’re giving them autonomy, but I think a lot of parents actually feel like they are passive participants in it all.

It has by far been the best parenting and family move we have ever made. I’m closer with my oldest (15 now) than ever before and the younger two are thriving and learning so much. We love and enjoy each other and this lifestyle so much.

I'd say she's doing the physical ones - taking classes, kids in lots of activities, home is very well organized, healthy food always, big garden, lots of self care, exercise, etc. The emotionally available and fun parts - probably up for debate.

Before going to any kind of post secondary, get a job where you have to work physically hard. You’ll learn a lot about yourself and build character.

We found saskatoons, blueberries, pin cherries, chokecherries and hazelnuts on our property today! We knew we had a couple, but not all!
It’s only our second summer here, so there are still lots of pleasant surprises.

Today my little daughter relaxed in a magnesium and baking soda bath while I poured warm water over her. She turns 6 next week; I can remember pouring water on her like that when she was a tiny baby and it’s so bittersweet 😩.

A western themed murder mystery!
We had kids from ages 6-15, all with characters and costumes. It was seriously the best day.

Yeah I did watch and read a ton of terribly inappropriate stuff as a kid. I had no filters or limits. And that really messed me up and sent me down a terrible path of confusion for a long time.

I'm in my 13th year of teaching. I'm pretty solid. Not the best, but very competent and confident.
When I tell you that the majority of the time spent in a class is on safety and behaviour, it's not a skill issue, I mean it.
It is a mess in there.

Even though I enjoy a wide range of people on here and don't always share a lot in common, all of us share this:
We don't elevate people. We don't worship whoever we're going to vote for, we don't look for a human saviour, etc.

I’m pretty anti-school but I still don’t believe the average teacher is out to brainwash or corrupt kids. Most just want to teach academics.
But the system itself is so deranged that DEI is shoved in and overall it’s terrible for kids. Either way, try to keep your kids home.

Well it turns out they did a really poor job on their chores, so the day was much less fun once I came home.
I got a text from my oldest that the kids started their school work and chores early so it’s 10am and they’re basically done for the day. I left quite a bit of work too!
They’ve got a fun day ahead of them.

Was a bridesmaid for friend. They had (expected us to plan and pay for):
-engagement dance at a hall
-bridal shower
-bridesmaid weekend at hotel 6 hrs away
-separate bridesmaid/girls night out
-boys night out
And then my son who was the ring bearer, was not invited to supper 😅
