Just watched a scene from a show I auditioned for/didn't get.
The guy cast was great and I see that I wasn't right. I've been kicking myself for not nailing that audition all this time, when instead I just read differently to the actor that got it, good for him!

Sure, One can easily pretend all this on a plain wall background as is typical, but the request is worded in such a way that they want to see it all.

I've got a day's shoot in Manchester this week.
Just went to book a train ticket.
£370!!
I could FLY to Europe and stay a couple of nights in a cheap hotel AND eat for that money.
Luckily they're paying for travel, but man, what a rip off.
Europe can do cheap trains, why not us?

I either sucked & they got me out quickly... Or I was awesome & they knew all they needed.

I was an extra in the funeral/riot scene.
When the imperial kicked him over, no one was expecting that (don't worry, they had a stunt version).
Really helped us channel the anger we'd need soon after :)
He was a delight to work with though, very polite.

I had an audition. I didn't take a moment to breath, I didn't take in the room/my environment to get comfy. I rushed my lines, I didn't fully follow the directions given. But... I learnt a lot, met a lovely CD & was thankful for the opportunity.

Auditions vs casting ratio:
it IS HARD!
I've been lucky enough to have two auditions on Friday, and got both of them! (After YEARS of a very low ratio).
Small gush at how great I feel, but also a humble reminder that it really is 'right place, right time' sometimes.

BUT many people love it and their loving it in no way affects me. I'm not forced to watch/play, but have to put up with folk talking about it a lot and getting criticised when I share my distaste. But I'm a grown-up and just get on with life.

I stood up between them (I'm a tall bearded bloke) he shut up & left.
I talked to the couple, they said it's ok. Happens all the time.

I've had a few DM messages moaning at me for being snobbish (I'm paraphrasing) and clearly, I'm not Equity material.
