In 2022 my hope is that we stop talking about the NHS as if it were a charity and not a service that we all pay for through taxes and use at the point of need . It has been deliberately underfunded through political choice
The cheat code to London is finding ‘your’ things .. your nail bar, your cafe , your hairdresser, gym.. lunch spot, massage parlour ..all the places you love and feel comfortable in. That and leaving every 2-3 months
🥹 our elders did so much for us in this country. Notting hill is a celebration of them and us. This brings me so much joy, my own gran would have been about the same age if she was still with us 🥹
Mama: "doh worry bout dem & dey foolishness, dey won't stop we carnival."
A couple years off 90 but with more energy than me; I struggled to stop her joining the crowds.

is a beautiful celebration of multicultural Britain, inspired by the Windrush Gen.
Braids have been in our cultures for thousands of years , they are not a luxury service ..stop this nonsense . Defo pay appropriately but stop trying to make them something they are not
Nobody is forcing you to get small knotless braids down to your ass. Braids are a luxury service, stop complaining about the prices you have to pay for peoples labor (and a long and tedious service)
My mum and I just had a conversation about the trauma that a lot of older West Indians feel, a lot of them only wanted to come to Britain for a few years and go back, when they got here they soon found they couldn’t afford it.

I didnt. Most people pay a mechanic or the AA to change a tyre. Traditionally " women's " work is seen as secondary and thus devalued and unpaid. All of the unpaid work a women used to do.. facilitated capitalist patriarchy

Bussa’s rebellion , Barbados. One of the greatest uprising 1816, was brutally put down by the British army. There is a statute of him on the island
The average tube driver earns £56k for a 36 hour week, plus bonuses, and gets 43 days annual leave. No wonder they never leave! Today they're bringing misery to millions of Londoners by going on strike to demand an even better deal. Change the law, and fire the lot of them!
Carnival is to celebrate their hard work which laid the foundations for other minorities to flourish in the uk. That doesn’t mean we cannot include other cultures but it’s Important to recognise and remember what it’s about
The area was one of the only places West Indians could live. Africans came during 1970s because of the commonwealth act. 20 years after carnival began and after the West Indians had done the hard fight , including getting the race relations act passed in 1965.
This is a dereliction of duty by the govt. Some people HAVE to go to work. Less services means less trains and more packed . £94 a week is not enough to pay average rent in London . What’s not clicking ???
London’s central line at 0700 THIS MORNING 🤷🏻♂️ via

Business as usual?
This is everyone’s failure, governments, TfL and every numpty who doesn’t need to be on that train

Both parents were professionals and now retired . He had no qualms about feeding his children and running a household plus his role as a head of department
Our restaurant is called Hood as it’s short for neighbourhood and we are a neighbourhood restaurant in Streatham owned, run by and employing local people and our customers live in the neighbourhood.

Erm but you don’t live here so you don’t know 🤣 they aren’t all convenient which is what I said. There is a big Tesco’s right next to the train station the only other supermarket is the other side of town and it’s a Sainsbury’s the nearest complex of supermarket is 15 mins
Hmm. I think sometimes our conversations on hair are a bit one dimensional as we are living in the west, braids are also an expression of our creativity and art that have been in African cultures centuries before it interacted with western beauty ideas
I don’t think wearing braids is indicative of you being more accepting of your natural hair. And whilst I think wearing extensions that match your texture is good, I still think all of this ignores the big elephant in the room. Which is the obsession with hair length
Why is everyone being weird about a fictional song??? Like it’s so unhinged. People rewrite reinterpret and change songs all the time . That’s the beauty of music. The original is unharmed
“Jolene” is fundamentally a song about insecurity.
Changing the lyrics from “I’m begging of you, please don’t take my man” to “I’m warning you, don’t come for my man” spoils the song.
It also betrays an even deeper insecurity—the kind you don’t have the artistic guts to expose.

Before you embarrass yourself further, the internal structure is the vagina, don’t put chemicals of any sort up there, the external is the vulva , that can handle gentle soap.
There is maybe then , An inter generational trauma of not quite feeling Britain is home by also being a foreigner in your country of origin . Home is not a static place

This is madness. The UK is on it's ass. No post, no parcel deliveries, nurses, paramedics, rail staff, royal mail all striking. Cost of food is through the roof. People can't afford their heating bills. Public transport is falling apart. What has happened to this country.
That D*SUNOMICS character being in there doesn't surprise me one bit. He's revealed himself on here multiple times and it was always clear what he was about, even if he didn't explicitly say it

Changing a tire is a false equivalency to someone cooking for you day in day out . You would have to pay someone to do that if they were not dating you
