The Peyto Lake Storm of August 05, 2019, produced the one of the most amazing auroral displays that I have ever seen. An un-matched visual treat for over 5 hours, with 2 coronas that were Type 1

So now that we know that the X5.0 associated CME is only going to glance us, with a shock wave. What can we expect? Well a CME is made of of three parts, The shock, the Sheath and then the ejecta (CME). We will not be seeing the sheath (or very little of it) or the ejecta.

Well folks I have finally managed to get around to counting the nights/mornings that I have caught the aurora in Southern Alberta last year 2023, and it was a whopping 93 times! Quite incredible considering our geomagnetic location, I guess it does make me The Aurora Guy

That strange looking long duration solar flare from AR13576 ended up being a C9.6, it has an associated partial halo CME that is quite substantial, definitely Earth directed. #Spaceweather #CME #Aurora
