More freezing of bubbles. Now, better lighting and corn syrup has been added to my mixture of dish soap and salt (had to wait for Sobeys to open 😉)

What would

be without a more produced video? (that'll never go as viral as the vid captured with the smartphone 😜)

What a great evening of Aurora last night around Calgary! The sky lit up numerous times with vibrant and active Aurora overhead across Alberta!
@AlbertaAurora
As we slowly say goodbye to Comet NEOWISE, a timelapse from 10 minutes on July 14, when the comet posed with Aurora, noctilucent clouds and the Okotoks Erratic.
I usually take few days before I start spamming photos from a recent event, but I just got called out at work for not being faster with the pics, so here we are 😜
One of the stars of the Thanksgiving Aurora event, these rings were seen by chasers across Alberta and Saskatchewan!
You're gonna see a few comet photos among my favourite photos from 2020 ... I've been waiting my entire life for an opportunity to photograph a comet such as Neowise! And to be able to photograph it with a stunning Aurora? What a treat!

Freezing Bubbles Pro Tip: Bubbles seem to freeze quicker in humid climates. If your bubbles are popping before freezing, try blowing them onto smooth surfaces (ice, glass, etc)

Honestly, I feel like this is one of the most magical photos I've ever captured ... I absolutely LOVE the story this photo tells!

Aurora blowing up the whole sky is awesome, but sometimes a classic curtain of pillars over Grotto Mountain with chinook cloud in the foreground does the trick!
@AlbertaAurora
There were 10-20 people at the Okotoks Erratic last night, spread out in the 1sq/km area. Most seemed there to watch Comet NEOWISE ... a small cheer went out in the area when Aurora showed up 😀

I don't always shoot in portrait, but when I do, it's because I'm standing directly under a rotating tower of moisture.

I grew up in a conservative voting Alberta household. For the last 30 years, I've always voted conservative in Alberta's elections. But, the UCP doesn't represent the kind of province that I want Alberta to be and won't be getting my vote.

One of my favourite photos from yesterday's dramatic Rimbey-Ponoka-Bashaw
#abstorm
, caught east of Bashaw, just before I bailed south from it.

The long process of 4K'ing all of my old timelapses! This monster of a storm passed over Red Deer, AB on Jul 9, 2014. I caught up to it shortly after it passed over the QE2.
@PrairieChasers
From lit to dark, the Calgary sky was on fire for about 10 minutes tonight! Here's the full sequence in 25 seconds, for your convenience 😉
@PrairieChasers
The 360° camera is such a useful tool for chasing storms! Capturing footage while driving without having to adjust the camera angle is SUPER handy!

Last night's Aurora, as seen from my backyard ... I'm definitely being lazier lately, and not venturing out of town on work-nights for my Aurora shots 🤣
@AlbertaAurora
Aurora came out last night with a full palette of colour at Lac des Arc, Alberta! I don't think I've ever seen the ground lit up pink by Aurora!

That time when you're so busy chatting with first time chasers (physically distanced) about how to focus cameras at night and completely neglect to check the focus on your own camera 🤣

I was beginning to get a little worried that

wasn't going to get cold enough for

this year ... phew!

The structure on the June 13 Taber/Brooks
#abstorm
was nothing short of mind blowing. This is, easily, the best first-half-of-June storm that I've seen in Alberta.
*Alberta doesn't typically get great storms until July (yes, there have been exceptions)
When I'm shooting a storm timelapse, I never quite know how it'll turn out until I finish processing it, sometimes days later. I was gobsmacked as I watched this segment from yesterday's storm near Huxley, Alberta taking shape on my laptop this morning.
