I've seen the aurora borealis several hundres times before that, but never with that strong oxygen red. 🤯

Tonight many of my friends were talking about a meteor they saw, that flashed very bright and apparently somewhat pulsating 😮
Didn't catch the meteor, but the smokey trail it left stayed for a while in the sky, here visible as an orange, squiggly cloud in this 360 Pano.

8/14 At this stage I was quite convinced that we are witnessing some extraterrestrial contact right there. I could not explain it otherwise. I checked back with other guides that were in the area. All saw it, yet nobody had a compelling explaination….

4/14 I explained to my group for that night how the northern lights work while the Aurora danced all over the sky, everything was perfect. I had just finished my little lesson on Aurora science, when someone pointed behind me and asked “Ok, so what about this”? 🤨

2/14 It was a perfect night, clear conditions and amazing solar activity (especially considering the fact that we were right in the middle of the solar cycle’s minimum). I went out to the beautiful little archipelago of Sommarøya, just west from Tromsø.

9/14 It took about 30min until the news broke,
@AndoyaSpace
had conducted a research experiment to gain insights about magnetosphere and solar wind, called AZURE. For this purpose they had shot up 2 missiles that put out ionised particles, creating “artificial” northern lights.
