There’s a good framework out there to define work:
Zone 1. Simple - known knowns (busywork)
Zone 2. Complicated - known unknowns to be solved (lead gen for example)
Zone 3. Complex - unknown unknowns to be solved (most engineering work, you’re mapping territory as you go)

I've made this mistake before
Being willing to turn customers down is a productivity hack
Your first customers should be passionate about what you're building. Catering to everyone is a waste of time
Unmotivated customers are a time and energy sink
