@MmeLockhartLDSB @NancyBlair2 When they put you in charge of the place, would you consider changing the name of the course? Emergent literacy is like fingernails on the chalkboard to me, screaming of the belief that reading will emerge when the student is “ready” 😬

@BenisonMrs So true! The layer of nuance beneath this statement is that not all students should get the same T1. In some contexts, T1 will be differentiated in flexible, skill based groups, especially for word rec. an essential purpose of universal screening is to inform the design of T1.

@mrsgillatwvec @PamelaSnow2 @Suchmo83 Amazing! May and June are currently open and he can pretty much pick the day and time. I’m sure will be a great book to get in front of teacher educators!

@literacytutor5 I’m so glad this resonated with you. Questions can guide our assessment, which helps to target instruction. The problem solving process is central to MTSS and literacy improvement. But I dont think I mentioned that rope, did I??

@smorrisey @S_Oberle @CreditFlex @thismomloves @ONlit_social It’s a good idea for schools to do this with their own outcome measures. But thankfully, this is how the Acadience benchmarks were determined in the first place. So use a good tool and you know it predicts a wide range of reading outcomes down the road. Works like a crystal ball.
