You want better refs? Someone will try reffing at grassroots and immediately think f**k that. Why? Because of the abuse. Why is there abuse? Because participants see it happen at the top and think it's normal behaviour. Want better refs? Shut up then.

@RefsJourney @FA @EnglandFootball It was u10s. There was a fight between 3 players. 2 on 1. Most people involved were peace keepers, however there were 3 or 4 adults which were fighting each other. Also there is a chance 1 adult made deliberate contact with one of the children.

@DaleJohnsonESPN Until football understands 3 things, there will always be issues with referees. 1) ALL officials WILL make mistakes. 2) Subjectivity means that opinions on most decisions will be divided 3) the laws & their implementation can be too complex for the untrained to understand.

@radical_referee @refsupportuk I think the thing to understand here is that being a parent comes before anything else. If you see your own son getting beaten up, you're going to do something. However, retaliating against a 9 yr old wouldn't be something anyone should do. Just take your own child to safety.

@Smelter_27 You don't know the minimum age you can qualify as a ref then? It's 14. If you knew anything about reffing, you'd know protocol when it comes to dealing with a mass con and it's not getting in the middle of it. Do some research before wading in with your Duplo level knowledge.

@HaymerHarry @JamesBeardwell I love a laugh, it's just that Roy Chubby Brown style humour isn't my comedy of choice.

@Smelter_27 20? He's no older than 14. 😂 You think refs should break up a scrap? Ok, an adult ref up to a certain age group, but after that, the most important thing to do is obverse and take notes, then take any action you need to and report the incident to the FA.

@BBCSport Was it deliberate? No. Was his arm in an unjustifiable position for what he was doing? Personally I don't think so. Did he have time to move it out the way? No. If the officials agreed with me on all those points, that would be mean it's not handball.

@brockleylion @LewisB120 This is as close as I can get to real-time. He hasn't left the floor and dived in/ lunged with speed or force. Like I said, Keith Hackett likes creating drama. It's what gives him clicks.

@brockleylion @LewisB120 The contact point is only part of the story. It has to be watched at full speed to take into account the intensity of the tackle. Has he come from distance? Is there excessive force or brutality? IMO the force isn't excessive but the tackle is late and reckless which is a yellow.

@brockleylion @footyinsider247 Do you have a clip of it? By the way, Hackett is not a fan at all of the PGMOL. He jumps on anything he can to put them down.

@Stouters79 @ProfBrianCox That's not how it works. Check out Project Dart which successfully changed the orbit of an asteroid.
