@brettd76 @DaveLee101 @1867News @AlexMiller91 Sorry, misread your first message. Yep, I'd expect the referee to be judging the impact, and speaking to the assistant about the factual aspect of offence at this point.

@j_ando291268 Yes, which was admitted as an error at the time. That was over 5 years ago, and the Premier League changed interpretation on VAR penalties several seasons ago to try to avoid such interventions.

@wellbeaten1977 @GazRobinson1 @DJDirrtyDogg @AlexMiller91 @DaveLee101 They've been examples in the VAR videos. Assistant says "I've got offside against x but I can't see if he's interfering" Ref will then say he thinks a player has interfered, assistant may then have a view on how close to the keeper. Happened with Leeds in midweek.

@wellbeaten1977 @markhamowl @AlexMiller91 And almost every decision in football is subjective, which is why there will always be so much noise about referees. They can't really win. If that had been a West Brom goal we'd have been screaming for offside.

@wellbeaten1977 @GazRobinson1 @DJDirrtyDogg @AlexMiller91 @DaveLee101 I get that, but there are degrees of subjectivity. Everyone is free to disagree because of that, but at the same time there are expected outcomes from given situations.

@wellbeaten1977 @markhamowl @AlexMiller91 I always say that it's impossible to referee a match simply by reading the LOTG, because so much is based around interpretation and guidance. Ergo, it's impossible for the LOTG to cover eventualities in detail. They are a reference point, really, but don't have the devil.

@GazRobinson1 @wellbeaten1977 @DJDirrtyDogg @AlexMiller91 @DaveLee101 I totally get it about the delay, but that's always likely to be present on subjective offside. Just like the goal disallowed vs. Plymouth two years ago.

@wellbeaten1977 @DJDirrtyDogg @GazRobinson1 @AlexMiller91 @DaveLee101 Definitely should have been disallowed!

@wellbeaten1977 @markhamowl @AlexMiller91 Have to say I struggle to think of one where a player has run directly across the goalkeeper like this. Happy to be proved wrong.

@markhamowl @AlexMiller91 This isn't the offence, mate. Windass is active throughout, not just at the point of the shot.
