@baylissbaghdad Beats me. I think it takes people quite a lot of time to adjust to new understanding re energy. I'd say that also extends to network operators, but that might be too glib.

@baylissbaghdad Doesn't the lack of support beyond the contracted cfd show that the government actually has changed policy on this?

@mr_james_c @alexfmac If basic common sense around consenting infrastructure projects is what centre right think tanks are coming up with, their funders might want to have a word.

@niall_gooch Maybe, I'm naive, but functionally what’s the difference between that and "❌ We do not pay reparations."?

@niall_gooch "A Foreign Office spokesman said there were no plans for a ministerial meeting and no date set for a UK-Caricom meeting. The spokesman said: “The Government’s position on this issue has not changed – we do not pay reparations.”"

@tomhfh @Sam_Dumitriu Depends on the skill. Lack of skilled operatives in infrastructure is massively inflationary. That absolutely has an impact on growth, as it has outstripped materials costs in rising capex.

@Sam_Dumitriu This is telegraph level ragebait against Welsh language. If you read the exa report it concludes that the project would probably have a net positive effect on Welsh language. Plenty of issues with wylfa development and dco generally, but let's try and be accurate at least

@pursuitofprog Is propagating this ragebait really the level of the lfg agenda? If you know anything about wylfa you know Welsh language wasn't a needle mover. Please tell me the lfg movement isn't this shallow?

@yuanyi_z IME top planning lawyers are generally up for getting stuff built - that's often why they're in the role. The trouble that HMG faces is that lots of these requirements are linked to international treaties which makes sweeping law changes difficult.

@WarGit Energy reporting is never popular because it's an insanely complicated topic. Lots of people in the industry don't really understand it, let alone journalists.

@baylissbaghdad Its a catch 22 for the civil service. Over consultation or getting pilloried in the media for spending an extra £5 on a project.

@simoncwrightson @mattwridley Bingo. This is the problem when the British right wing imports American talking points: they don't match British geological reality.
